What's this small metal rod

I cleared out the trunk and this little guy was found on the right side. Is it a car part? Tool? Random item from the bags I took out? Any help appreciated, thanks!

Geez..... Please tell me that your top is up. That is a retraction guide pin to make sure the top goes up evenly on both sides at the same time. If your top was down it would not go back up. Get to the nearest dealer and have them put it back in. The pressure in your hydraulic system has to be relieved in order for it to be put back in. And yes its gonna cost you.....J/K... I have no idea what the hell that is...now dont you feel better...... ....

Haha you had me going. Was thinking I was in for some serious RGP problems (however I did operate the top this evening and all worked fine). Now it doesn't seem so bad.
