e46 track build...

ive been racing for a while now with an e46 323i that for the exception of suspention, breaks, aero, wheel package, and safty equipment is bone stock. its a great car as far as balance courning ect. but as we all know seriously lacking in power. the plan is to change that.....

i want to take the power plant m62 from an M5 and cram it into a smaller car. i love the M5 but its just a bit big. im looking for a wrecked 5 so that i have everything... wiring harness, ect, tranny, diff, fuel pumps, the whole thing.

is it possible to cram all the M5 guts into a e46 3 series and how much modification of the engine bay will be needed to fit all this in?

Hartge did it, but it's not one of the more popular swaps

considered it....the 323i motor is pretty limited with FI. the ultimate plan is to squeeze a v8 in there and build the motor and supercharge it. i want to be able to get everything i can out of the motor hence the build. i was thinking about going to the M62 motor instead of the S62 from the M5 since it will probably be cheaper if im doing a full build on the motor anyway
