Stevens Creek BMW rant & alarm activation needed

Shitty experience with Stevens Creek BMW today. I installed the factory alarm on my 2003 M3 and stopped by SC to get it activated. When I finally got the check-in guy to ask what I needed (40 minute wait), he had no idea what I was talking about.

After going inside to talk to the actual service advisor, he relayed that "coding the car" was required and it was a very complicated process that would take several hours. I explained to him that I had already installed the factory alarm on my wife's 2003 330i - which took 30 minutes and was included in a regular service appointement at no extra charge. I'd be happy to pay for 1/2 hour of labor to activate the alarm, but there is no way I'll pay 2-3 hrs!

Sorry for the rant - needed to vent a little...

So, end of the day, I still need somewhere to activate the factory alarm - any suggestions?

Thanks for the bump! It's amazing how much the dealers seem like they're trying to gouge their customers...

Technically, anyone with the GT1 should be able to activate the alarm right? (time to use the search function )

A new shop opened up in Fremont who could activate the alarm.

Here's a thread to their grand opening:

Ya, the problem is finding one that's local and reasonably priced - I'm not looking to spend 3hrs labor for a 30 min activation...

Update:

Pinged MUMsports on this site - guess they're not active on the site... But i've been lazy and haven't actually called to get pricing. Will do that tomorrow hopefully...

Also pinged German Motor Specialists in Sunnyvale - they have a $120 flat rate to program alarm and any of the customizeable features available with the GT1.

$50 is what I paid at Bavarian Motorsport in Milpitas to have this done. Screw the dealer.

Still around? EMC collision now??

I'm guessing they are not around anymore??? Called and they recommended a stealership do the work to activate an alarm.

Bavarian motorsport is good. The only dealer that's half decent is Mountain View BMW. Any other dealer sucks here.
