Is this noise normal? Video inside. 330ci drivetrain noise
I've had my car about a year now, and it's always made this humming noise in first gear, but it was bothering me more than usual the other night, so I thought I'd take a video of it and see if it's normal. A few friends of mine that have e36's say it's totally normal, but their cars don't do this and really I can't think of another car I've driven that sounds like this. It's not real loud, and it's only noticeable in first gear, but kind of sounds like a dry transmission or something. Fluid is fine, but it's never been changed so I plan on doing that soon. Any other ideas on what this noise could be? Listen closely, it does it mostly between 1500-1700 rpms. Here's the video Thanks guys!

I'm not getting the noise from the vid.
Can you describe it in more detail? Quote:

Yes, kind of a whirring/humming sound. it happens a little when I let off, but actually more when I'm accelerating. turn the volume all the way up, it's a little hard to hear in the video.

Yeah can here the noise but it looks like you have other issues there more pressing, like you need fuel, looks like some bulbs are out and you're low on windshield washer fluid.....................hahaha!

in my Xtype jag, this noise was the center drive shaft support bearing, it was annoying, but not too bad to replace. also your one HID that is working is pointing straight at the ground.. haha

It very well could be a driveshaft bearing issue. I'll check that out! Thanks. I don't think it's tires, because its only noticeable in first gear, but I will have new tires in the next few days, so I should be able to tell. I filled up on gas today, so that's one issue outta the way.
lol thanks for the help!
