For my armchair quarterbacking "policemen"...

....lend me your eyes (..and your fingers Jon Jon )!

I have a question for you civilian guys who are often vocal and judgmental about the methods employed to enforce law in the United States. If you were given the opportunity to be an officer/deputy for a week (..on your own with no partner), but were relegated to working an extremely high crime area (..statistically high stats for gang activity, murders, shootings, drug use and prostitution), would you have the guts to do it?

I would do it to get a new perspective, although I would be very tempted to spend the time mercilessly ticketing left-lane hogs.

You'd have one, but so do they (..they meaning: the street heathens).

You wouldn't be a highway patrolman. You'd be on surface streets in the neighborhoods. The municipal and county departments generally deal with more bullsh|t than the State HP's.

Would we have the actual police skills/training as well?

If so then yeah I'd do it.

If not, you can go fvck yourself.

I'd just chill in my cruiser and don't ticket anyone, everyone's happy.

I just couldn't bring myself to....

On the other hand, I'd make one hell of a detective....

I just have a fundamentally opposing view to police officers today, not the law itself per sey...

Growing up, when the neighborhood kids were playing cops and robbers, guess which one I always chose to be?

As a civilian yourself, what's your answer?

You have to answer calls, so that approach wouldn't work.

Yes you would in my hypothetical scenario. You'd be provided a crash course in basic arrest & control tactics, shooting, etc.

Ninja please, I grew up in nice neighborhoods but spent a lot of my life in low income neighborhoods with a lot of violence and gangs.

I wouldn't personally do it. Salary too low and risk too high.

Because of that I get annoyed at people who bait law enforcement into debates and in general being non compliant(usually with a video camera running). I'm not talking about open carrying although it fits into this category.

Its the dicks who refuse to give ID, Threaten to ticket police for talking on the phone or speeding or just have a $hit attitude from the getgo for youtube.

Crock of **** IMO.
