This is one of the biggest problems imo. A 250lb woman should not be doing the same workout as some of us.

Perhaps it's because of the availability of gyms in my area, but everyone at this place is in pretty decent shape. Of the eight people I worked out with last night, five of us were above average fitness, one average, two below.

That sounds like a progressive approach. I'd imagine they are doing well too!

Yeah, they are. The first time I met them there were 4 members in this dude's one car garage. Now 4 years and 4 moves later they are in an 18,000 square foot facility with over 300 members. The trainers are the perfect example of really thinking about and caring about their clients. I'm not a member there, but I have a good enough relationship with them that I drop in once a month or so for free and they let me do my own thing if their workout doesnt mesh with my programming.

In return I sponsor some of their events and send people their way as much as possible.

Symbiotic relationships! Gotta love 'em! What type of programming are you on currently?

A new squat program I developed that I'm trying out. It's may be killing me though. Today is week 3 day 3.

Squat every day Monday - Thursday - 50 total reps at significantly increased weight each day, resets the following week to where you were the previous Monday + 10 lbs.

Monday and Tuesday are partition the reps however you want

Wednesday you have to do at least a set of 20 but 50 total

Thursday you have to do at least a set of 10 but 50 total

Weights week 1 were as follows: 135, 185, 225, 275
Weights week 2 were as follows: 145, 195, 235, 285
Weights week 3 .........

You get the idea. I then do conditioning every day Mon - Wed, only the squatting on Thursday, Run friday, Bench saturday along with some conditioning and then either take Sunday off or do something light.

I have NEVER felt so comfortable with the bar on my back.

Sorry for the threadjack DWass

That gives me some programming ideas once I transition off of the program that I'm on. I also considered a 2-month, 225 lb. program for all of the major lifts (..performing 4-5 sets of max reps for front squat/back squat/dead lift/bench/military press/etc.).

I think of it as a squat program, thus programming. Semantics...

I wasn't meaning to be rude/call you out.

I'm just hearing the word "programming" everywhere. The CF Box I've been going to, bodybuilding friends, on here, etc.

No offense taken. It's probably partially due to the ever changing nature of the plan that leads to it being called a program as opposed to a split. Split to me implies that it will be followed indefinitely whereas my program is more of a periodization type thing where I will follow one thing for 6 weeks to address a weakness, then the next 8 weeks might be a different thing, etc.

Having my only experience with this stuff being from squat programs etc I don't know if I've ever even used the word split. Different world's I guess.

Greg I like this program a lot. Today was just squats and it kicked my butt. I just went up 5 lbs this week though since I want to ride this out for a bit. I also feel very comfortable with my reps and people have been commenting on my depth as well.

Glad to hear it. I just 245x 5,20,5,5,5,5,5

I've never felt more comfortable under the bar. The set of 20 has gotten easier every week even though it was 225 week 1 and 235 last week.

It's so motivating too. I've been just doing the 50 reps in as little sets as possible and every time I'm about to put the bar down I just tell myself "get a few more just to make next set easier"

I seriously laughed-the-f@ck-out-loud when I read this Dave. I pictured you reading this with a cocked eyebrow in a business suit whilst traveling on public transit wearing an Omega.

I walk when the weather is nice. Lately, I've been taking the train more often. Walking in this weather is not fun.
