Figured I'd give it a shot. I feel like whey bloats me a little bit and leaves me feeling weird. Casein feels more comfortable to me.

Actually if you can enjoy them like I do, Fig Newtons are actually really low fat, have some fruit and sugars of course but still very enjoyable and have fiber too.

I bought vanilla whey because it was on sale and it's absolutely disgusting unless I mix it with milk.

Bought a GNC thing of Casein and CAN'T STAND IT. Impossible to mix. Like even my blender finds it obnoxious. I'm hoping this is just this brand as I've heard casein is a much better wake up protein as it takes longer for your body to process and therefore lasts most of the morning. Just finished a post lunch PBNJ

BTW, dwass you're looking ripped dude

Thanks

I've had similar experience with GNC casein (though it was probably 6-8 years ago).

It's all thicker than whey, but in my experience the GNC brand protein is especially poor mixing...which is funny bc it's made by ON.

I find the casein to be much thicker, but definitely manageable to mix with milk in a cup with a spoon. It definitely tastes better to me. I use ON casein.

Let us know if you feel any difference with muscle/fat gain while supping straight casein, apparently its supposed to be better for more muscle and less fat vs whey.

Quick update since I neglected this so much... I didn't push quite as far as I would've liked due to serious stress at work, but I definitely think I looked good. Waist was tight, I had a reasonably good set of abs, shape and fullness came in in my upper body, etc.

Best part was walking down the hallway in the ship and this kid goes "Hey dude... you're ripped!" I laughed and told him thanks and he started asking me about working out. He really thought I was the Incredible Hulk or something. He was only 13 (half my age) so I gave him some quick advice and encouragement. It was pretty cool.

Update: sort of fallen off the horse in the last month. Work has been out or control and then I strained a muscle in my elbow. Based on advice from my friend who's a physical therapist, I'm 7 days into a 14 day rest period. Outside or surgeries, this is the longest I've not been able to lift in about eight years and I'm not liking it.

In a couple weeks I'm starting a new routine and will be considering competing in physique in early fall.

Vanilla whey also works well for protein pancakes, homemade protein bars, and protein puddings.

Nothing revolutionary. I just have to work my gym schedule around my job.
