Manual m3 shaking

Hi guys, I was just driving back home and got stuck in traffic, I was in 1st and suddenly my car turned off. I turned it back on and it had the service engine soon mark on my dashboard. I start driving and the whole car is shaking. I reached the highway and pushed the throttle, it was much slower than usual and kicked when I was shifting. It's 30 degrees Celsius and I had the air conditioner on the whole time. I'm really concerned. Any help would be appreciated.

You're most likely misfiring. Get the code reads. Off the top of my head you have either lost a coil or your VANOS solenoid has died.

Quick test for coils is to disconnect them one at a time with the engine idling. If the sound doesn't change when you disconnect one then you've found the bad one. Change it to another cylinder to see if the problem follows the coil.

Again, wild ass guesses. Get the codes read.

Definitely sounds like ignition coils. There was a recall on them years ago, not sure if it's still out there.
