1999 328i engine core questions

I ran across a 99 328i dual vanos engine (long block). Block casting # 1436921 and head casting # 1436812. Is this engine worth picking up to rebuild? I can get it for scrap price. Thought about going through it for my 323i.

Should be plug and play for the 323i both are MT52TUs except the 328i kicks out 192hp as opposed to the 170hp the 323i kicks out. The throttle body is cable driven so no modification there I think its the best swap for the 323I.

Yes it runs good. No smoke no noises. It has 198,000 miles though. I was going to build me a back up engine.

I just finished my 323 to 2.8 swap a few days ago... my 2.5l was over heated from the PO. reflashed the DME to the e39 2.8 dme assembly number and runs good so far. Need tires before I can take it for any real drive time.
