I bought a 3.46 diff out of a 325i auto and am aware of having to swap the input flanges to match up to my 330.
However, my axle flanges are not matching up. Photos below: 3.07 (my original diff): ![]() 3.46 (new diff): ![]() As you can see the 6 bolt pattern does not match up, what is the easiest way to swap these?

You can use the flanges off the old diff. Just be careful when you swap them. If you don't preload the bearings properly, they will go bad in 6,000 miles. I can't give you any more guidance than that, but Dan at diffsonline can, or you might be able to Google it and find a DIY for swapping the flanges properly.

Looks like with some pry bars and some force it does pop out pretty easy. Updates on the 3.46 to follow!

Poppng it out is easy. Popping it in, the right way, is easy to screw up, at your peril. Seriously. If those bearings fail, you'll be replacing the diff.

Really. Seriously. Do some reading, or you'll be on here asking about a howling rear end in 6,000 miles, and you will not like the answer.

TX78666 it sounds like you're talking about the input flange? I don't think you have to do any sort of preloading on the output flanges...

Could be. It's late, and I didn't do the swap on mine. The shop that did it, ended up eating the cost of another diff. If I had screwed it up, I would have paid more attention to what went wrong. :-)

Yes your 330 has beefier axles and different output flanges.
You just pop them out and swap. The INPUT flange is the tricky one.

Just an update, was at the shop until 1am but the diff is installed with no leaks! The difference is definitely noticeable! Considering I got the diff for $220 shipped this mod is worth it for sure! Wish it was LSD though, maybe down the road.
