according to what i've read from other forums, they are. this message has been circulating about yellow speed:

The Yellow Speed is a really small company in Taiwan, there are only 5 employees working there, itís like a household factory, also there is no ISO approval for the products they make. Itís the company which specialized in pirating othersí products.

In fact, Yellow Speed just founded before Oct. in 2010, the person who in charge of Yellow Speed company used to work in D2 company, but he got fired due to theft. So far D2 has started to sue the company, as I notice, they pirate D2ís patent as well.

If there is someone who is interested in buying their products, perhaps it wonít be under any warranty as the company might be out of business at any time.

P.S. You can post the message above to any website, chat room in public, if there are any unrealistic, we will take the responsibility.

i'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying from them, this is just what i've read about them.

AutoCross Review:

Car feels planted. Too much understeer though but my instructors insist this is an alignment and tire issue (Steven and Nick of BMWCCA LA). I loved the ride quality on these coilovers while autocrossing. It was just right amount of dampening.

I did some crazy drifts with this coilover kit haha. I had to work the oversteer to counter the understeer. So it was all in all a fun autocross not too serious. No launches

My next goal is to find the race setup with these coilovers to give a neutral balance to the car.

So far still recommended for daily driving.

I forgot to tighten the rsm so they clunked. i fastened them down now no noise.

I used the Duralast part #18365 (OEM Hyundai) for the shorter front end links.
I have used them on my 330ci as well no problems...

no need for adjustable endlinks...imo (they are weaker).
the short endlinks line almost perfectly.

Need to find the correct setup for autocross and tracking though.
tire width, tire pressure and rim setup needs to be tweaked

It's typical for budget coilovers that come out of Taiwan and China. You'll get a very flat underdamped compression curve, but a rebound curve that is wayyy too stiff in the upper settings.

Forces the car to lose traction over severe bumps, sometimes you'll also get a jacking down effect and the platform of the car becomes less stable overall.

Coilovers with dyno curves like I described tend to only be good for people that have either never riden on a properly damped performance suspension or they just want something they can slam since the height isn't adjusted at the spring.

Durability is also a concern as well, since the track record of coilovers from that area of the world is very mixed.

Re: Yellow DPS Coilover Review
Can be the rebound curve be smoothed out by using the dampening knobs?

I see where you are coming from. I sat with Nick at BMWCCA LA he drives race cars for a living.

He said that it wasn't too stiff at my settings. Maybe he was used to linear springs. I will ask again next time I see him.

Durability should be pretty good. I have unlimited warranty on these just in case anyhow.

I'm middle of finals week so I can't write too much. Sorry Guys!

Hi, how do you fit the rears from Yellow-Speed? Struggling getting ours in.

Sweet review write-up and pics. One small detail that was left out is that CarShopUSA, one of the larger US Yellow Speed dealers carries replacement parts and dampers for all Yellow Speed coilovers. They also run partial sponsorships on Yellow Speed product.

Wish we could have gotten your E46 in the latest Yellow Speed promo vid on YouTube.
