Springfield XD for me
Asking that question is like asking a stranger what type of condom they should wear/buy. You have to try a bunch and see what feels good in your hand yourself

I carry this under my jacket...
![]() Okay... legitimate post time. For a good, easy to use concealed carry firearm, a .38 J-frame revolver is always the first one that comes to mind. Pull, point, shoot. It's small, light, easy to carry, and easy to conceal. However, it's going to jump like a sunuvabitch. For automatics, a Walther PK380, Ruger LC9, and Kahr P9 or PM9. The .380 is not my first choice, but I've heard from many people it's a very easy to manage gun. Less powder than a 9mm, but still has an identical bullet diameter. The 9mm is a highly suggested cartridge, though. Higher velocity, varieties of bullet types, deeper penetration, and more impact force. The 9mm is also relatively cheap to shoot and easy to manage with proper shooting technique.

I think the 9mm is the ideal cartridge for carrying as well. You have a wide range of bullet weights and types to tailor your load to your needs. .380 is not as ideal, and more of a "light carry" option for something to have in the pocket or for a backup gun.

![]() Srsly... listen to Reedo. 9mm is the way to go for a good, balanced round.

If you quote my ".45 ACP" post and look at the very last line, you'll know I was just egging Reedo on.
The 9mm is the most "general purpose" carry round. "Stopping power" is one of those mythical things. There are cases where guys got hit with one 9mm bullet and died and there are cases where some have been hit with three .45 ACP's and lived. Shot placement makes a big difference. Wound channels and impact force are a bonus.
