BMW 330ci zhp diff swap

Hey im planning on swapping the 3.46 diff into my car (2006 330ci zhp). My question is will any 3.46 diff fit in my car or is there a cut off of certain years? For example would one work from a 98 e46? Also will a diff from an e46xi model fit my car? Thanks

All the E46 rear differentials are the same, aside from two things: Ratio and input/output flanges.

So if you find a 3.46 differential from an E46, worst case you'll have to swap the flanges over from your stock 3.07 to the new unit.

What John said is spot on.

The only thing I'd add would be for you to consider a 3.38 diff, an E46 3.38 diff would be an incredibly easy install because it will bolt in without having to swap over the flanges.
