Head gasket problems???

Hi everyone!!!

My car is doing some weird things and I think I have a big problem....

Here are the symptoms:

• Since I bought the car it needed coolant refill every 3 or 4 weeks (I thought it was normal)
• A few months ago it started to have rough idle in the morning once or twice a week that corrects after a minute or two
• Two weeks ago after a fast (80mph) 1 hour ride the coolant reservoir explode
• Replaced the tank, refill and bleed coolant
• Since that day the car needs to be refilled with coolant every 2 or 3 days but I couldn't find any leak
• The last week the rough idle has been there in every start
• Today the coolant smell was strong when I got home and decided to check it and found that the engine block behind the oil filter was wet (with coolant)

I think this could be head gasket :face palm: what do you think?

any ideas or suggestions on how to confirm/discard this???

Sounds like a clear cut and dry case of head gasket failure. It's rough on a start because as it sits the cylinder is pooling up with antifreeze. If it gets worse you risk hydrolocking your engine and doing even more damage. You will need to replace the head gasket and while doing so you might as well get the head hot tanked, decked (if needed) new valve seals/guides, and all associated "while you're in there" type of fixes.

Replace your oil immediately too, it's probably completely saturated with antifreeze and you are risking spinning bearings or other oil related issues.
