IntraLasik here, done in Dallas (well, Plano) by Dr. Boothe. Had a nice steak dinner with the Boothes and others a few years ago, and after being introduced, I expressed the usual fears and doubts, which he answered patiently and expertly. Had the procedure done a couple of weeks later, and I have to tell you, it's best elective change I've ever done for myself (right up there with my vasectomy). Had my left eye done for near, my right for far sight (the brain sorts it out after a week or two) and the results were immediate. I could have probably driven myself home that afternoon (not recommended, just saying the change was that dramatic).

Dr. Boothe has a vapid personality (he meets all the patients, with a cold-fish handshake), but other than that, his team does some amazing work. There was a woman from Alaska here during one of my follow-ups, she actually traveled here for a couple of months to have the procedure done by him "because everyone says he's the best," so there's that.

Four years later, I still see well enough to fix my wife's jewelry, read fine print, watch 3D movies, and focus from 8-9" away to infinity. I would wholeheartedly recommend the procedure, as the slight lifestyle adjustments (some flaring of lights at night, for example) are minor and not at all an inconvenience for me. Leaving the damn glasses behind? Priceless...

Hey guys. Just letting you all know all is well. The surgery took like 5 minutes to do from laying down to getting backup. It's crazy how I could see the flap be pulled back and put back on :| it was very interesting overall but I'm happy as hell now that I can wake up in the middle of the night and see everything.

My eyes really aren't bothering me like dryness etc. vision is improving a lot over the past 15 hours. If you're thinking about doing the procedure just do it.

Best investment ever. My doc got me 20/15 in one eye and 20/16 in the other. Halos and such at night go away after about a year.

I did PRK in Nov. Very painfully recovery for me, but I was -9.0 and -7.0 (left/right). So well worth it.

Good Luck.

How did you not freak out when that was happening?

I want to get this done when my eyes are done changing (-5.5 now...probably -5.75-6 soon here), but for now I'm stuck with contacts

Haha, you don't think I was freaking out? Of course I was lol. What a crazy experience but it's doable. I can see extremely well right now. I love it.

I didn't take any meds for that. I think some guy that was in line after me did and that didn't help

Just took the regular ibuprofen that everyone needs to take and that's it.

Nurse walked in and gave me zanax when I had it done. I think it helped more with filling out the paperwork.

Congrats man!! I had PRK done last August and I have had no issues and my vision is perfect!

lol I was supposed to have LASIK to be one of the "testing" patients for a new laser, but apparently I have very athletic eyelids according to my Dr. and kept squeezing the suction cup out.

btw, if anyone here lives near Atlanta, GA and is looking into getting this procedure done, I would highly recommend Dr. Kozarsky who works with Piedmont Better Vision in Atlanta. Great guy! ...and I for one am a great patient, normally, but when it comes to my eyes, I'm very sensitive. He was very patient with me (as my eyes like to tear like crazy) and did a tremendous job!

What was so painful about it? I'm -7.0 both eyes and I feel like its gotten worse in the past year...

One of my main concerns is vision at night, my cousin got his done and talked about some glare/flares at night? If anyone can explain that further it would be great, thats one thing I'm concerned about.

I don't mind wearing contacts but I can only do that for so long and I doubt it's healthy for the eyes (wearing them 12 hours daily)

And it doesn't matter how bad your eyes are it can be fixed.... and you are a little more sensitive to light after the surgery.. but it isn't unbearable. Definitely worth it.
