Talking Coming back to the e46 world! :)

Hello everyone,

After 2 years of selling my e46 and driving a 2010 mini cooper S its time for another BMW! I found a very clean 2000 323ci, topaz blue, 64k miles, 5spd, bone stock just very clean inside and out. I can most likely pick it up for $7500 tmrw. Just looking for some fanatic opinions, what do you think, should i go for it?

Wow that is clean. Good find. No cracking interior leather or anything. That car was babied.

Curious why don't you go for a late model e46. But the car is very clean and looks well maintained. Just make sure you check the subframe for cracks. The early e46s are notorious for it.

I know guys are gonna come up and say why not get a 330, M3, ...
But hey, with these gas prices, which buffoon is still gonna be stomping on the pedal to see which car goes the fastest.
This 323 might be one of the cleanest e46 still rolling around. Go for it and make sure it always stays this clean

So, you took 2 years off to refill your bank account, and now you are ready for that savings vacuum known as an e46! Good for you!. Our sponsors can use the extra business.

I get better milage in my 330 than I did in my 323. Probably because I was always flogging the Hell out of the 323, to keep it moving fast enough for me. With the 330, I can cruise along, and drop the hammer only when I need to blast by somebody. With the 323, I found myself in 4th gear out on the Interstate a lot of the time, so I would have a fighting chance when I dropped down to 3rd to pass somebody. It was fun, and it seemed quick. But I was always driving with the revs way up, just so I felt like I had some power.

Listen to beeemerdude...needs new corners, no doubt. Ambers make the car look old and lame...like it's 10 years old or something.

Of course, spend your money right away on lowering, new wheels, something stick on to make it look faster...like Rieger lips (was a great thread on that just yesterday!)...a trunk lid spoiler. Then you'll need a new bumper in the front...some 'other' air intake...and you'll also want to change out your bulbs inside and make them all LED. All the cool guys here are doing that.

Don't worry about the subframe cracks, though. Although you could check then in five minutes, that car looks so nice, I'm sure you wouldn't need the $5,000 repair...you can just tell by looking at it. Don't go searching for the thread on 'how to check your subframe,' because if you do, you might find a crack and then you wouldn't want this great car anymore.

No offense I dislike the facelifts, idk why its just I've always loved the front end more on the PFL coups...

Took the words right out of my mouth! Were at about $4.6X here in LA...and i saw the average mpg was showing about 22.6 on the dash. It wont be as hard of a shift from my 25+ mgp on my MINI

I'm going to quantify this answer as reason alone to KEEP my '00 323i, even with all of it's faults. Just knowing that there's at least one member here willing to answer like this and not go all "lemming" is worth it to me!!!! AWESOME!!!!

Wait, so you picked up on my sarcasm? I must be getting rusty!

Oh, and btw, I'm often the only one willing to answer the way I do, so that might not be reason enough to stay...I've only heard rumors of one or two others that agree with me, but they're girls and not willing to fess up publicly like I am! Chickens (or lemmings)!

I'm as big proponent of the sarcasm, so I'd go more with the "takes one to know one" or "birds of a feather " theory. Besides, it's always a good time rattling peoples cages, so I'll stick around and assist in the asshattery ! Nice sig btw, I have been wondering what my ride would look like of I added the factory fogs instead of going the m-tech, etc way and after seeing yours, I'm thinking that's the way to go.

I would rather have the mini in the background? Why the downgrade?

no way.
GF has a cooper S. It's fun, but if I had to drive more than 20 miles I wouldn't even consider the mini.

e46 is SO much quieter, comfortable and faster.
