Speakers for E46 Sedan (Non HK)

I am just trying to verify which is the best set up for audio speakers between Vibe Audio Space 5 and Vibe Audio Space 6? I have the stock amp with Dynavin Android navigation unit.

Space 5: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...o-SPACE-5.html
Space 6: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...io-SPACE6.html

After searching the forums i see they are both recommended so idk which to pick for my E46 Sedan (Prefacelift, if it matters) ?

You want 6.5" speakers, so VAS 6 would be a better choice; however, they are NOT plug-and-play replacement of the OEM speakers. Just beware that you will need to do some modifications for them to fit.

For them to fit into the speakers housing or the actual connections and cabling need to be modified as well?

Yes, anything other than OEM or BSW will have to be modified to some degree, but it is more than worth it and if you do it correctly no one will notice that modding has been done. I am rocking Vibe 3D along with MB Quarts up front, JL 650 in the back and JL 12" in the trunk. It's the BOMB!

The amount of modding is small. I just recently upgraded my set to some older alpine type s components(from previous car) and they definitely kick better. You just have to tap into the wires for the stock harness, i just cut the clip off the end.

Now I just have to get my damn amp working to get some good highs.

You'll need speaker converters to go from the BMW stock 3-hole template to more common 4-hole mounting speakers. Like these:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/con-...nt-and-re.html

13cm speakers are designed to drop in to these converters but are too small for good sound (I've tried them).

You then need to modify the converters to accept bigger speakers. Strictly speaking 6.5" (17cm) are too big, you'll find 6.25" (16cm) speakers fit better.

Hint: many speakers will have 16 or 17 in the part number to denote speaker size in cm, look for 16.

You'll also need to chop the OEM BMW speaker plug off and join standard plugs to the wires. As long as you observe polarity (and insulate nicely) all should be well.

There's a DIY here:

new to the forum.... hi. what amp is best for the space6 speakers? i just got a 330ci and all speakers are BLOWN. space6 looks like what i want to do. dont have any factory amps. its the factory head unit non-HK. and im not 100% certain that the 6.5" will work for my car... its an 02 330ci coupe non-HK.
