2003 e46 convertible passenger door wont unlock using key of unlock button

Hello, i cannot get the passenger door to unlock on my 2003 convertible, when i use the key and press unlock only the drivers side door unlocks, and the same thing when i press the unlock button inside the car. the only way it opens is if i reach over and open it from the inside using the door handle inside the car. it used to unlock but not it doesnt work, any idea what could be wrong?

See the link below in my signature for GM5/door lock problems.

Suggest you e-mail Scott @ www.bmwgm5.com and ask him what he thinks.

Sounds more like a door lock solenoid to me?

There are no solenoids used in the door lock assembly. There are two motors in each door for the locks. One for single lock and one for double lock.

OP, most likely the door lock/latch assembly needs to be replaced. GM5 problems are intermittent. Your problem sounds like a solid failure.

Thank you for the replies! I did buy an aftermarket warranty from the dealer but I doubt this problem would be covered by it right?

Try pushing the unlock button twice. Read the manual.

That is timing

Wow, I have 03 vert too, and the this just started with me on the passenger door as well. Locks ok, but can't unlock electronically either from key or inside car.

Actually discovered one more thing. Doors lock with key only, not with internal button.

the button and the hazard switch is prone to break. search. there is a DIY shows you how to fix it.
