You should be able to trust the seller too(to a certain point). Theres many things you'll find on a car that even a ppi or a close mechanic(friend) wouldn't be able to find. Good luck in your decision though.

Get a PPI at the dealer. They can find something wrong with a car strait off the factory line.

My Ride: 2001 BMW 330ci
I'd take a 330 buried in a mud pit over a clean 323, but that is just me. My first BMW was a 323, and God intervened, and sent an angel in a Honda Accord, texting her way through a red light, to do a mercy kill on the car, and leave me without a scratch. I had reached the point of realizing that I had a sad BMW that no amount of mods was going to cure, just a few months earlier. I took the payout from the insurance company, and figured out that the 12 months that I had owned the 323 had brought down the prices of 330's to the point I could buy it with the insurance Payoff (OK, I did snag another $2k out of savings that the wife never noticed).

Doesn't seem worth the change. You know your 323 is clean, well maintained, and carefully modded. The 330ci is definitely not a "beast", hell it's barely above slow . If you're going through the trouble of upgrading to a car for performance with unknown maint., you might as well go either 335 or M3 .

Have you done any performance mods to your 323? That's always an option to beef up the power a bit. I prefer to have my 325 upgraded under the hood personally but it's completely up to you

I assume the car in the pics is yours so I gotta ask what size are the wheels/tires and how much of a drop did you put on? Looks SICK!!!!!!

Just a little warning in case you change your mind all of a sudden. I'm pretty sure this is the same guy: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...948735762.html

Once again, just like his first unedited ad(330ci), This guy posts a ridiculously bad ad, shows little to no knowledge of bmw's, shows his horrible spelling, HAS the SAME name "mike" but different number. But the part that caught my eye is they both spell "wheels" horribly wrong.

Example:

may be a scammer, may be a hoodlum looking to rob someone over CL, or may be a very rich guy with a horrible education :roll eyes:

Sorry in advanced for the oversized screenshot.

My Ride: A Clean BLK/BLK 330i
maybe you'll be lucky as I was when I purchased mine. A yr after getting my 330 I found out that it had extended warranty(expired though) and was CPO'd(which is pretty tough to get done). Then again it is a gamble not worth taking if there are no maintenance records even more so if the dude is sketch. I agree with what you're thinking of doing which is going for the e90, just use your 325 in the meantime and when the funds are there do a real upgrade. 335 maybe?

Id keep your 323, after owning quite a few cars, there is nothing better than the assurance that you know the history of the car. If I were you, Id spend that 6500 on a supercharger for your 323... Just my .02 - then you get the maintenance history you already know, the mods you have done, and get near M3 power.

My 330 isn't that much more powerful than my 325 with headers and a shark tune. Some opinions may vary. If you are looking to upgrade thats great but that in my opinion is not very much of an upgrade if what you want is power. Keep your car and super charge it or wait until you can afford a 335 or something. You have done a good job on your car and it would be a shame to see you get rid of it for something that is not in as good or better shape than your 323.
