The non-Ms need a lot of maintenance, but the M, being the pinnacle of the e46 fleet, really can go for tens of thousands of miles without doing anything. Also, the oil is so thick, that you hardly need to change it as the car can't tell the difference between it and sludge.

Drop, stagger, hellaflush, lose sap, lose ccv, chip, exhaust, headers, argon in the tires and you should be all good.

You really should upgrade to a M3 if you want to play in the douche sandbox with us.

If you do a search, you will find something like an Agency Power header, high flow cats, muffler and tune is indeed giving quite a few guys 50RWHP.

The Euro header gives closer to 35-40RWHP in the same mix above.

I prefer playing in my all inclusive sandbox, where douches of all types are welcome! You really shouldn't think that because you have extra HPs that you're extra special, you know! We've all got four wheels...although some of us, like me, actually have five also!

Yup, shopping for an el cheapo M3 and asking about mods before you've even bought said el cheapo M3 is a recipe for disaster.

It's hard to find a good one, after looking at 5 **** ones, I found a gem that had been looked after, changed all lights to depo smoke, now ready for performance mods, you all have came up with some good ones, I made a mistake with the k&n intake, wish I looked on here first seems a good panel filter is best way to go.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how a well-maintained M3 becomes an el cheapo M3.

Agreed, there are better tuning solutions out today that weren't around when the M3 first became available. The power numbers in my sig were done from bolt ons and proper tuning. Dyno graphs can be found on M3forum. There are a number of guys racing in the NASA GTS series that consistently see more than 340 whp and 260 ft-lbs of torque.

Bollocks to the performance mods, just gona keep mine maintained and looking good!

I agree. Start with a solid foundation first. And that means making sure you get a solidly maintained and well-running M3 before considering any mods.

Cosmetically-Angel Eyes, LEDs turn signals and tail lights (if they didnt come standard already).
