AUX input for 2002 head unit with navi possible? (Not thru CD changer with Blitz etc)

I have a 2002 with a navigation head unit and I'm trying to hook up an AUX input directly to the back of the navigation head unit. I'm not clear on if this is possible or not since my car is an 02, and I keep reading different things in forums. Is there an adapter that can be used to plug an AUX input to the back of my Nav head unit? (I don't want to get blitzsafe or similar product that attaches to the CD changer in the trunk, I want the AUX input to directly attach to the back of the unit, or through an adapter, so I can mount the jack inside the ashtray and keep the whole setup in the front) Any help would be appreaciated. Thanks guys. (Sorry, for posting this twice, originally posted this under M3 instead of here. duh)
