How many of you have flown on a private jet?

Do tell, OT. How, where, when, why, and what was it like. Let's hear your luxury jet experiences. Pictures if possible. Bonus points if you own or lease the jet.

Netjets was pretty fun. Private jets are a bit much for my taste though; I prefer first class.

Isn't a private jet from NYC to London something like $50k?

Worked for an architect a few years ago who had a Cessna Citation seven passenger jet. He keeps it at a small airport in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

It's over the top convenient! Beyond that, it's like piling into a suburban for a road trip. The $3+ million annual budget for the plane is a bit steep for most people.

That's because the REAL owner of your company did.

Yes, from stl to ft Lauderdale several times when I was younger. Then a helicopter to an island. A friend's family owned the jet and helicopter.

I dropped a friend of mine off at a small airport in Long Island...she works for Anthony Hopkins, so I asked if I could see the inside...that was the closest thing I've ever had to flying private. #thatpeasantlife

Good on you for being self-employed in your free time, selling knickknacks on eBay. I hope your eBay business continues to thrive and you can afford to pay yourself more than $15/hour so you can fully quit working for somebody else.

Not full on jet, but a nice turboprop King Air. We flew in 45 minutes what would have been a 4 hour drive.

It was really fun going to sim school a while back for this,

Phenom Flight Deck by Ian Brooke, on Flickr

I've felt a little ridiculous having just me and my friend up front with nothing but two snowboards in the back burning those heaps of jet-A... But man, I love it. One of these days I'll get a process going for algae jet-A so I can feel less terrible about my addiction.

edit: Good job Scott . Yeah, I like my toy chest. Sold the Phenom (an actual twin turbine) for a PC-12. Goes slower but I can fit motorcycles in the back and it costs a fraction to operate. Not to mention it's a lot safer to fly a Pilatus if you've gone a month without flying (I sometimes do).

Yeah....it was crazy. They owned most of the island we were going to, as well. It was a citation jet and a Sikorsky helicopter.
