New owner, only 17k miles, squeaky belt on startup
Car is an 06, just got it a few weeks ago. I bought the car "as is" but got the add on warranty. Contacted the dealer and they haven't gotten back to me yet. When I start the car I'm getting a belt squeak (especially bad when it's colder out). Stops after it warms up for a few seconds.
I'm obviously not happy about this. Is this normal for such low miles? |

Replace the belt. It's probably bad since the car has obviously sat for an extended period of time.

Replace the belt.
Haven't had this problem on my M but when my Mini sat for a couple months without driving, the belt would squeak when I first start it and it was worse when it was cold. I just tightened the belt an problem went away. But go ahead and replace it. But 17k is a nice find. Congrats.

Can you pinpoint the squeak? Could be a pulley also.

BMW recommends changing oil once a year min. Most of the low mile cars I saw were missing many services. Unless it was properly stored change all your fluids and keep an eye on leaks.

The belts are supposed to be changed every four years.

I change my oil once a year as I drive less than 7500 miles a year.
