It's terrible, happened to me last season. I watched about 3.5 seasons all back-to-back and the end of season 4 was like torture between each episode.

i think that's how the writers of the show want you to feel. i still love the show, but not because i'm particularly rooting for walt. it's interesting to see how he's evolved from someone who had good intentions to someone who basically treats the drug trade as a game and just wants to win

I think you are completely misinterpreting the writing, although you are entitled to your own opinion.

Walt isn't a sociopath that lacks empathy and treats the drug trade as a game. From the beginning he has been playing the game to survive, at first to make money for his family, and then to save he and Jessie from being murdered by Gus.

At what point does he treat it like a game?

Walt has shown remorse and compassion through the tough and arguably unethical decisions he has had to make. It has always been a tough choice for him (to not intervene when Jessie's GF choked on her vomit, to kill Crazy Eight or whatever his name was in S1, etc.etc.) He didn't take any pleasure in poisoning Brock, in fact, we see him in a state of introspection and self-reflection--arguably even regret--as we pan away from the ending of season 4.

No matter how you take it, the show is still being written with Walt as the protagonist. What happens in S5, we will see...but S1-4 he's still the guy the writers want the audience to sympathize with.

You are also misinterpreting what the other fanatic was saying. He meant it is torture to be able to watch S1-3 on DVD or online without waiting one week between breaks. Now, with S5, he will have to wait it out week-by-week for the next turn of events like he had to do with S4 (which he watched live).

I disagree with this as well. I wouldn't say he plays the drug trade as a game. The show has been about Walt's struggle for survival since the first scene in the pilot episode. Survival from cancer, from Tuco, from the DEA, from Gus, from Jesse and even from Skyler... all the people that could either kill him or put him away for good.

I feel Walt never wanted to become what he has, he's been driven to it in order to continue to exist and he certainly doesn't enjoy it. He wants to be a family man and provide from them. Vince already admitted that in season 5 Walt attempts to keep his rekindle his ties to a normal existence. He even goes back to teaching. However, something or someone is going to drive him back into he old ways and back into the battle for survival.

First episode was good. I watched the entire show on demand it's going to be hard to watch one episode a week. Ugh.

I might wait until the whole season is over to start watching again. I hate the cliffhangers they leave off on after every episode.

I love watching a bunch of episodes too but I worry about people revealing spoilers.
