Engine interchangeable component

I was talking with my buddy about cars as usual while wasting time at work.
I was discussing the m54 and all that while reading some stuff and he pulled up some threads about people putting M54 head on there M52 blocks.

Now this got me thinking if they can fit and the M54 head is not the best flowing would it be possible to slap a S50 or S52 head on the M54 and give more room to work with power?

I have been reading and reading for a while and i see many putting S5x intakes on there M54`s and the P54 intake but not a lot of information around head swapping.

No. The M54 has double vanos so the water pump ports won't line up. Only an M54 head will work with an M54 block.
