Ethaniscools Help this white boy get abs help/progress thread

So reaching 21 i'm starting to care a bit more about what I look like. Well, all my life I have been in relatively good shape. I have been 6 foot, 155-165lbs ever since I was about 16. I like the way I look for the most part aside from my Core. Because well I just don't have a defined core. Just from browsing on here and other sites I realize good abs are really made in the Kitchen.

So I'm looking for Meal and Workout recommendations.

I don't mined eating the same thing over and over again. (doesn't really bother me)

And I used to run Track and Cross Country so running doesn't bother me ether.

Hear is where I am at the moment. Very happy with my arms/sholders/chest.

Lets here what you guys have.

Im sorry, but not one thing about this comment is true. Abs come from diet and low body fat, not doing 3000 crunches a week.

You need to cut down on any excess intake of things like alcohol, sodium, soda's. Try eating things with high protein - Turkey, Eggs, chicken. Peanut butter is a great way to get your lipids, and tastes pretty good.

rofl. body fat doesnt= skinny. or visa versa.

in any case, there are so many things to suggest man. abs are kind of a pain in the ass to work out. i suggest it to a lot of people but getting a suspension trainer (like TRX) helped me out a lot since essentially everything you do on it engages your core.

just look at workouts that engage your core, cut down on sodium and sugar and bad carbs. pretty basic way to put it. like i said, theres a million things you can do, id just research if i were you.

You can start by stop looking like chubacca.
Your abs are going to come from diet and cardio, but strengthening your core is very beneficial.
High intake of veggies, low intake of red meat and breads, and a good macronutrient split based on your needs and activity level.

OK, I was in your boat minus another ten pounds (with maybe half your natural body fat percentage).

The best thing I can suggest will sound rather contradictory. And, to the gurus on the site, correct me if I'm wrong.

Start eating a lot more, eating healthier and leaner, and doing compound exercises. If you start doing squats, bench, shoulder presses, dips, and pull ups, the abs will come and the rest of your body will bulk up... as that happens, you'll burn fat and start getting toned.

I've gone from a 145 dude with maybe 5% body fat to around 160 without an ounce of additional fat on me. And, despite bulking up, my core (stomach) looks far more defined.

Thanks for the tips. But frankly i honestly don't want to bulk up at all. I like my current size a lot. Just not my midsection. I already do pushups, curls and other basic upper body exercises.

But I'm really looking for Diet Options. Very simple and quick meals because I am always on the move. Thanks again guys.

Do the simple stuff first, like cut out sodas and alcohol, and if you're going for a burger, substitute it for a chicken salad.

also, shave that chest boy!

Someone needs a wax

Do as everyone has said, eventually start doing sit ups with added weight. It's a pain but it gets you there pretty quick.

It's an arbitrary number however you look at it. I don't care if I weight 180lbs or 160lbs. If I look good I'm happy.

you were not 5%. That's a fact. Even ridiculously skinny guys never get that low. Even the best in shape athletes have a difficult time getting even close to that number. You were probably closer to 10%

Long term around 5% isn't healthy, and not really possible if you don't workout, eat right and have have dedication. You were probably 7,8
