we need better MAP sensors... i've gone thru enough to know they fall outta spec way too often for no damn reason.
anyone know if a haltech would be an upgrade over the current aem?

Engine , AEM and harness all put back together . I cleaned it up while I was at it.

Car with new side skirts. They are black and am deciding if I should paint them silver with a black tapered stripe or all silver or leave them black

Well got new map sensor installed. I found one locally 250 bucks !!! Car started and idled at 11.5 ( still rich but better than before) drive it a block and it stalled??? Started it again and drive it afr is 10.0 under light driving vacume 20. Car after a few more blocks stalled and ran rough as it did before. Now am completely baffled

We have seen some cars have intermittent stalling issues for a number of reasons. Some related to wiring connections and some related to OEM stuff. I would look at both. Don't put your DME cover back on. Wiggle wires. Let the car idle and then wiggle wires and see if it stalls. If you can pinpoint that then you are good. Otherwise there can back OEM parts that are defective that will also shut the car off.

Well I'm going to install exhaust cam sensor but I doubt that's it as the car can read from the crank sensor to compensate. I have too big of a afr problem for that im sure but I've been fooled before.

If that doesn't work I'm having Hpf get me a new gauge harness and gauge set to replace the ones I have in the rear view mirror.

If that doesn't work I'll change out the vanos unit as a last resort. $$$

Thanks for ur suggestion but I have done all that and even sent my aem and harness to be checked out by Chris K and it's fine. Im working on what other issue it might be , guage and harness , cam sensor , vanos etc

Can't get the dang cam sensor bolt off. Any suggestions? I have the cover off and air filtration etc. just can't get the 5 mm Allan wrench to line up.

Its an odd angle. Try to feel it good and get an idea of it. Otherwise you can easily get to it from under with long extension and a swivel

^ this... use extension from underneath, much easier.

you tested the wideband with a ether soaked rag to make sure it goes full lean?

To make sure it doesn't go full lean you mean...brake clean or ether should peg it rich

I replaced the 02 sensor. No change at all.

I ordered a new vanos solenoid in case that's failing. Will take a week to get.

Off to buy a car tomorrow so that my wife can have her car back. My guess is that this car wont be running for a while.

to make sure it falls back to full lean once you pull the rag and how fast it drops to full lean.

also just to see how the gauge responds to the rag.

how was this car driving down in san antonio?

Apparently Hpf said it was Running like crap barley running when it was unloaded off the truck hpf attributed it to wrong plugs and a bad map sensor and ran fine afrer that although the guages did miss read intermitly and somhow reaolved it self I was told by the seller it ran great. I certinly feel I was mislead but that's partly my mistake in trusting and letting this happen.
