HPF made some changes to my warm map and see from the data logs that my TPS is sending a wrong signal that makes the aem think it's on a different part of the map at idle. So I'm going to get the TPS changed and calibrated on the GT1. Glad were making some headway

well, if that is the problem, at least you did a sh1t ton of other maintenance so you don't have to worry about that

Seriously though, it had been awesome following this thread and learning.. great job!

Ur right about doing a lot of work and most of it needed to be done. I,m happy with being able to get to know the car and the turbo as a result I'm very comfortable with it. It's been a pain with some extra parts and time I didn't need but I am ok with having spares.

Glad u liked the thread and it was my intent to share the journey so that others could benefit as well as getting a lot of support which was very comforting.

Once I get this fix confirmed and squared away I'll post a summery of problem , symptom, and resolution as well as a check list as what to look for in a HPF car with a few years and thousands of miles on it from the lessons I learned. I would not hesitate to purchase one of these cars again given what I be leaned as they are a excellent car for handling and un surpassed performance for the money. I hope others benefit in a positive way by my experience.

I'm glad as well. I got my AEM back and installed it tonight. I'll get the TPS calibrated as soon as I can. So far next Wed is the what the dealer is telling me so I'm looking for someone with a GT1 tool. The weather I hope holds up for a while longer. It's been sunny but cooler lately

Ok got a guy today to do my TDK alignment for my TPS. He's going to set my miles to kilometres while he's at it. Half the cost of going to BMW and saves me a week. sure am excited to see the results in a few hours.

Now I'm getting pissed. The codes the AEM throws are preventing the the TDK alignment to be done. in other words I'm in a catch 22. I had to pay an hours labor and half of my day to get diddly.

Apparently HPF says it can be done so the guy I used is basically a bonehead. I am now trying to find someone else to do it.

Ok it's working we found the test in the GTI. (What an archaic tool) Cross my fingers. This guys is great because I get to work with him. Now that's what I need in a mechanic. Less arrogance and more creativity and curiosity

Did the calibration.and test also reset all adaptations. seems to have little effect. Car fluctuates 11.8 to 12.5 at warm idle. Seems to settle down in the 12.3 or so range after u drive it around. So that is an improvement from 11.7

I'm wondering if I can get HPF to set the map to compensate for the AEM using the wrong table at idle.

Idea
Since the aem is starting up in the wrong map because of the TPS voltage. Im wondering if we just put the proper idle map where mine is wanting to start? Or adjust the AEM to start idle map at the voltage my TPS is putting out?

seriously. im sorry being3 you gave it a great shot at being fiercely independent with troubleshooting this car but if your anywhere south of kamloops or west of calgary i can't think of 1 friggin good reason not to have your car at hpf so john can fix it. its becoming frustrating to watch now
