If poop smelled like candy

and candy smelled like poop, would we have evolved to enjoy the smell of poop and hate the smell of candy because we know it's not something you are supposed to eat?

Basically is the gag-inducing sh1t smell something that is conditioned or instinctual? I mean, what determines if something smells "good"? Experience? I love the smell of coffee but hate the taste. I hate cocaine but I love the smell of it. So how does this all work?

well poop smells that way because of sulfur and other noxious smelling things emitted by bacteria. so then the way we smell sulfur and a lot things other than just poop and candy would smell different.

rotten eggs and decomposing biomatter would smell like candy, so i don't think we'd be around for a very long time. those who mutated to smell poo like poo and candy like candy would, given billions of years, survive and procreate long enough to evolve and create people who don't smell poo as candy.

That's true^. I guess knowing what smells "good" or "bad" is hardwired to an extent, or else humans or any animal would not survive in the wild. It's like animals knowing what type of plants are poisonous just by nature. It's just weird to me, deciding if it's learned or we just know it.
