Is my e46 with sports package ?

Hi All,

Please help me to identify if my car is with the sports package edition ? If not, then what should i consider as i am planning to lower my cars on the stock-shocks and struts.

By the way all 4 shocks are newly replaced with BOGE FYI.

Please note that when i said lowering , i never meant slamming the car but a descent drop which should never fender rub and stuff. So it would be a 1.5" drop ?

My Chassis ID :- JT45481

Yes, M Sport. at least it did when it came from the factory.
would be curious to see a few photos of the interior and wheels. Interesting, in yr 2000 these are some first examples of sedan Aluminum Black Cube and Antracite Headliner that BMW used later for the USA Performance Package.

The anthracite headliner and alu-cube trim on this car appear to be ordered through the BMW Individual program.

pretty sure it's listed this same terminology on the parts sheet for the ZHP. it's just a part from the BMW Individual parts bin. as we know outside the US the M-Sports editions were the first production cars to get many parts the USA Performance Package later used. either way my point was that I hadn't seen the trim in a 2000 build car before. i'm gonna guess this M Aerodynamic Package is the M-Tech 1.

well it depends on what Boge dampers you bought for it last. if you bought ones for a Sport Package car then i would go with the H&R "Sport" springs. Eibach also has a similar lowering spring the "Pro-kit" about 1.0"-1.25".
Both have another line which are even lower which i don't think you want. The next line for more lowering would be the H&R "Race" and the Eibach "Sportline" which drop about 1.5"-2.0".

GL

I bought the OEM shock as per the chassy ID of my car. So its the factory spec shock which was a little pricier than the normal ones IIRC.

Just FYI, when i checked the fender gap today it was like 2 fingers and 3~4cm more. No i don't want that slammed look , fender rubbing and stuffs no not at all. Yeah perhaps a little more lower than it currently is.

Apart from HR and Eibach , there are several other brands on ebay for less than 100$. Is it reliable ? can i trust them ?

I recommend H&R Comfort kit suspension package. It is very comfortable and good to drive. It drops -35mm front and -10mm rear.
Price is approx 400$ for 4 shocks + 4 springs. Picture about my car which has that suspension:

Yeah if your car is a 2001 330i it has the sports package which had MTech 1 bumpers with style 68 wheels. Looks like the previous owner put on an MTech 2 front bumper.

Also, I would suggest removing the taped badge on the back of the car and putting an original one back on and removing the M3 fender grilles immediately

Dude, this car is almost 15 years old now. No point in keeping it in 15 year old back style. This car had a badge on it originally when i bought it. And even when i checked it here on the Auto-market , i could find all the Japanese import car with the M Sport package with an M emblem on it. Yeah the fender grill was an extra add on from my side as i said already to alter the looks of an 15 year old car. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Bro, i recently bought new OEM (BOGE) shocks front and rear and hence looking for an upgrade on the springs alone as the current springs are still old and its being cut by the previous owner which is *-=***

Guys,

A strange thing - Today when i checked the wheel-fender gap with a ruler, its found that the drivers side both front and rear wheel gap is ~1.5" and on the passenger side , its ~2.0" respectively. Dont know whats the deal here

When it stays stock and clean, as time goes on, it will turn more heads

Is my e46 with sports package ?

I'm on Megan lowering springs. I think it's the perfect stance IMO. In the last pic you can see how low it is compared to a stock ride height e46.
