My Ride: 2001 325xit
Arrow 2001 325xit Automatic Touring 117.5k Miles - $8999

*Taken from my Craigslist ad

I am looking to sell my 2001 BMW wagon. The inline 6 cylinder engine runs silky smooth and makes a great subtle noise. The transmissions shifts quickly and smoothly and the four wheel drive is great in the winter time. I am a BMW fanatic and have treated the car like one in my year of ownership. The previous owner was an older woman who had the car serviced at BMW of Peabody. I did most of the maintenance via DIY with the help of a good mechanic at my work. I detail her religiously. I love the car, but I am interested in moving on to something that is a little less practical with a manual transmission. I am asking $8999. I will entertain any offers or trades but I am specifically looking for a ZHP. Feel free to post or PM me if you have any questions, or give me a call at 978 998 9529. I know you boys run a hard bargain, so let 'em rip!

The Car:

2001 BMW 325xit
117,500 miles (drive it daily, so it may go up)
2.5 liter inline 6 (M54B25)
Automatic (Steptronic)
Full time four-wheel drive (38%/62% Front/Rear Torque Split)
Sports package
Premium package
Cold weather package
Oxford green metallic paint
"Sand Montana" leather
Park Distance Control (PDC)
Xenon headlights
Fog lights
6 CD changer
Harmon Kardon stereo
Full sized spare
Continental tires on 17 inch BMW style 73 wheels
Power seats with memory and adjustable thigh support
Memory mirrors with reverse-tilt feature
Auto-dim mirror
Home-link system
Sunroof
Factory clear bra
Headlight washers
Multifunction steering wheel with cruise control

The Good:

Interior is in beautiful shape (9.5/10) The back seats and most plastics look they have never been used! The leather on the driver's seat shows some wear, but no cracks or tears
The engine runs beautifully and never gives me any problems on start up
Transmission never hiccups and the shifts are quick and sporty
Suspension is in great shape with newer shocks from the previous owner
Car feels tight and tracks straight on the highway
Very stable in the corners
A/C blows cold
The factory Harmon Kardon stereo sounds great
Plenty of recent preventative maintenance performed

The Bad (full disclosure here!):

The car is 11 years old and has seen it's fair share of shopping carts. The paint is a lovely color and is very presentable, but there are some dings and some scratches, although nothing major or really noticeable at first glance
Wheels have some curb rash on the outer edges
Some very minor rust (all under the paintwork, nothing bad or unusual for the car's age)
The car could most likely use a set of front control arm bushings for a small vibration at speed. Not a serious issue and does not take away from the driving experience in any way, but it is a little annoying! The parts cost $60 and a few hours of time
The sunroof will not tilt. It opens normally and does not make any bad noises, but for some reason will not tilt!
The rear hatch glass hinges separately from the main hatch, but will not pop open. The issue is common in wagons and the culprit is the button on the rear wiper that is supposed to activate the release. No big deal, just open the main hatch

Common E46 3 Series Issues:

All the window regulators function perfectly
Cooling system has had a recent refresh
Subframe is in great shape (xi wagons have a low failure rate)
Sunroof shade still works
No sagging headliner or pillar covers

AVAILABLE Extras:

OEM set of four winter wheels and tires with hubcaps (one tire is a mismatch, but tread depth is all equal) steel wheels are not in great shape but I had them on this winter and they were smooth and worked well in what little snow there was
Three sets of OEM floor mats (beige carpeted, beige rubber, black rubber)
One extra jack pad (they tend to fall off!)
Beige OEM cargo cover
Thule roof racks with snowboard carriers. Unfortunately, I do not have the keys to the locks (no, not stolen!)

Pictures:

Pictures are from this time last year, but the car has not changed in any way besides matte black front kidney grills replacing the worn factory chrome ones. The rear wiper no longer sags. Also, the ugly external wheel weights were replaced with inner-barrel weights when I balanced the wheels. Enjoy!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or requests for more photographs. Thanks for looking!

damn thats one fresh and unmolested looking forest wagon. I recently purchased a beat down 325xi for 8500. If I found out about this car a month ago. I wouldve bought it no questions asked. GLWS!

Thanks guys! I may just keep it?

I keep questioning whether or not it will be worth it to sell and put in another 3 grand or so for a similarly high mileage ZHP I've had my eye on...
