Thinking about trading in my 03 325i with about 146,000 miles for a 09 Maxima. Anyone here driven that model maxima?

is there really a point to trading in the 325? You might get around $3k for it as a trade in.

The OP is talking about the Model Year 2009 (Nissan Maxima). I have, they are very nice cars, reliable but not as sporty as BMW

I'm sure they're probably more sportier than my 03 325i right?

Performance specs on that generation of Maxima's:
0-60 mph: 6.1 sec.
Skid Pad Lateral acceleration: 0.85 g
1/4 Mile: 14.5 sec. @ 98 mph (158 km/h)
60-0 mph: 128 feet (39 m)

i.e quicker than a 330. slower than an m3.

Trading it in so I don't have to put a down payment. Plus my 325 has some maintenance issues. Mechanic said the A/C compressor needs to be replaced, tune up, water pump needs to be replaced, radiator needs to be replaced. Too much to fix, that's why I'm getting a different car. I'm getting about $4000 for it as a trade in

dont get scammed by the dealer.. you should ask them the price of the car you were interested in before saying you wanted a trade in they migiht say their giving you 5000$$$ for your car but they are just adding that to the price of the car..
so if the car you wanted was gonna sell for 25k before you walked in they say hey we will sell you this nice car for 30k but since you have a trade in we will give you 5k so you get it for 25k... EHHHH wrong you just got played just saying..

I didn't buy the vehicle yet. The car is going for $22000 and with my trade-in the price is going down to $18000. No scam here. Atleast I'm gonna do my best to make sure I don't get scammed

well, if you're getting $4k for your car with the high mileage and mechanical issues, then sounds like you're getting a decent deal.

Yes, it is sounded like a great deal (if you are having all those issues with the BMW). The Maxima is faster than your current but will feel less "sporty" (as with most Japanese cars). Anyhow, the Nissan has the lusty 3.5-liter V-6 is standard, backed by a CVT. This engine is well proven and uses across many Nissan and Infiniti. Output is 290 horsepower, up 35 from that of the 2008 Maxima, with a 6600-rpm redline. I would say go for it. Good luck

not always the case tho.
I do like small FWD hatches such as GTI and Mini Works.

This is a real option. My wife's 2007 328i with ZSP/ZPP/ZCW was ~17k as an off-lease purchase. 43k miles and that car was still like new when she let it go last year. Unless you really wanted the Maxima?

I was upset with my first BMW too after it had so many issues. With no garage to work on it I sold that and bought a new Acura. I kept that Acura for a year and bought another German marque when I returned to California and the sanctity of my own garage.

Those Japanese cars feel cheap. If you're not set on going Japanese, and have some space to work on your car, I'd stay with BMW. Then again it's not until you go to the other side that you really realize what you've had all along.

Good luck, I've been there and understand the frustration. Just know that staying with another BMW isn't necessarily a bad thing.

well if you are wanting to get into a newer car that will not need to be worked on then I can understand this, not everybody wants to spend their free time on their cars. The route I took was to buy an older japanese car as a reliable backup for when my e46 needs work, of course, that car has pretty much become my daily beater, but my e46 has been 10x more reliable since it's not my only car.
