^^^I've had pretty good luck with JM shoes. The ones I have that fell apart were cheap and I beat the crap out of them while living in Chicago. If you find something that you like with JM, go for it, if not I would sell the gift card and put it towards something that you do like.

Maybe some loafers? It seems like you have your bases covered with laceups for now.

Funny. I just saw a pair of suede wings there that I wanted in the their catalog on sale for $129. If you want to sell it (at a slight discount) let me know. I'm local too.

robbing with a sword is a good thing

Today I wore a pair of tan slacks and a white BB dress shirt to the office. I had one meeting this morning but now I have discovered that I'm going to need to run to a closing on a property sale for a client. Normally I would wear a jacket and tie to a meeting like this, but I expect I'll still be the most dressed-up person there.

On a related note: I just got approached by a headhunter for a Sacramento-area firm that wants to bring on a new partner to head up their trusts and estates department. We have a conference call tomorrow. I'm ambivalent.

I was thinking one that didn't collapse without a tie to prop it up. Sometimes you see cheap dress shirt collars sort of flop over themselves without a tie.
