that's good to know, I need a 48 Short (at the minimum due to big upper torso) and a 34-35 dress pant. what sucks is I'm only 5'7" ...and I hate taking the time to get things tailored. lol I'm glad I don't have huge traps anymore so my head still looks separate from my shoulders lol.

More pics; stopped at a Nordstrom Rack because I had to go into manhattan for an errand.

1st 4 pics: Joseph Abboud. next 3: Brooks Bros. next 3: Calvin Klein. last 3: Hugo Boss. all suits were 42s

i found the joseph abboud and brooks bros suits (especially the BB suit) to be extremely restricting in the upper arms (bis/tris). i literally felt like my arms were about to explode out of them. the CK and hugo boss ones were closer to feeling right; i felt like i could get it tailored and make it work, but i just didnt buy them because they were the wrong color (they were both black). thoughts?

The longer sleeves can be shortened easily. Your arms are pretty big relative to how trim of a suit you want. After this you might like MTM better.

is it possible to buy suits with 43'' shoulders in some of the more budget-minded stores, or is this strictly reserved for expensive places? i feel like if 44 is too big and 42 is too small, 43 may be just right.

Its an individual brand choice but typically even sizes are more common.

Youre an attorney just spring for one very good suit $800.

Re: hugo boss
Unfortunately, imola's statement is very true
It is what really got me learning about suits after making an overpriced hugo boss suit purchase

And mikelarry
Don't get too fixated on the size numbering
A 42 in one brand, or even one cut within a brand, will not translate directly to a 42 in another brand
Use it as a guide only

expanding on Romeo's comment... buy for your shoulder size. not for your chest, i know this seems counterintuitive, but you can easily take an inch in or out of the chest of any jacket. you can't, on the other hand, take shoulders in and make it look good, and certainly not take them out. my first two suits were hugo boss, for cotillion when i was like 13/14. at the time i thought i was a boss, pun intended. little did i know. at the time i think they were around $590. no idea what they go for now.

The shoes are not my preference (would have gone with either very dark brown or tan/walnut) but this looks very good overall.

What industry are you in?
