So wife and I are going to wedding on NYE. Thoughts on proper attire?

Have not received anything yet on black tie or not, but was thinking since it's evening wedding on NYE it would be a bit more formal regardless.

So right now I'm thinking navy suit and black shoes.

I do own a black suit, as well as a tux (got to keep my after my wedding) but def think those would be overkill (tux) or funeral attire (blk suit).

i just bought some Blackwatch Super 120's Trousers and Oxford Grey Flannel Trousers from Epaulet. so pumped.

well, does it seem like the reception will carry over into a NYE celebration?
might as well dress up for both occasions
hopefully the reception is at a nice place
but nay on the tux (unless if it's indicated that they want more formal)

if you aren't in the wedding party, i wouldn't wear a tux... its still a wedding regardless what night it is, unless the invitation specifically states black tie

i would break out the black suit if it were me, however you don't have to make it look like you are going to a funeral, you can spruce it up

Rhode- IMO jacket is a bit loose around the body, but I love the black suite/white shirt/good tie combo. Timeless.

Then again, I like a lot of the 60's cuts and fashion for men, but I have different tastes.

For instance, I refuse to own a leather band watch.

yea that's certainly an option.

Getting to keep my tux was relatively pointless. I'm sure I'll be able to count the number of black tie events by the end of my life on one hand.

I think a nice slim-cut black suit can look really sharp for the right occasion--and I think a NYE party is a perfect occasion. Get a cool tie and a crisp white shirt and you can channel the Rat Pack all night long.

Maybe a black/white houndstooth or plaid tie?

you can't judge a suit fit based on that picture with someone else hugging his side
