Love the hand stitching instead of machine on these. But I really don't need another pair of medium colored Indys...

For those of you familiar with AE leathers......would you go with chili or brown burnished calf? It'll be a shoe I wear to work with a suit or for business casual.

Chili

Brown Burnished Calf

that must be a pretty dense tie lol.... the fullness of that knot would have never made me think it was a 4 in hand

Well Gentlemen, this is just one pic, I am going to clean them up and put them FS... if anyone is interested, lemme know.

10.5E Shell Cordovan McAllisters, brand new. I am going to put them up on SF and wherever else, but I figured I would offer to you guys first.

They need a nice shine, so i'll get much better pics later today or tomorrow.

If they were B-width, I would be all over them. Good luck with the sale!

Thanks bud, you'll see them over on SF as well. I'm trying to determine the color, these are too light for cappuccino, right? I'm trying to think of what other colors the McAllister came in.

Chili looks much more business casual, although I would normally go for burnished brown with any full suit. I don't like that style of shoe though.

I'm thinking you're right.

I'm definitely in the market for at least one new pair of shoes (brown) and potentially a pair of black shoes. If I go black, I'm going for a cap toe (park ave). The brown shoes I'm undecided.....maybe the Delray, maybe the Fifth Ave.....

I tie it looking more like a Windsor. Like I said, I wear spread collars and really like thick knots that fill up the space.

i know conventional wisdom says that a black suit is inappropriate except for black tie weddings and funerals. however, if a wedding doesnt specify black tie and only requests that you at least be in a suit, is a black suit too formal at this point?

Others may have a different opinion, but I would hate to be mistaken for being in the wedding party when I'm not (assuming they are in black, as well).

Do you guys have some recommendations on burgundy oxfords? I saw these Prada oxfords that were beautiful but way over my budget. They were this really nice deep red. I'm not a HUGE fan of the burgundy AEs, they are pretty but not that deep wine red I'm looking for, I'd like something with a little more pop.

Also, do you wear a burgundy belt with burgundy shoes? i.e. blue suit, burgundy shoes, burgundy belt

Do not wear a black suit to the wedding...or anything else.

Got a pic?

And if you are in a suit, yes, belt and shoes should match.

The only time mine don't match is if I'm wearing a woven cloth belt.

Looks good, usually the 4 in hand knots are the siae of a pecan, so kudos for making it nice and full

The merlot is calf, which is currently my numero uno shoe to wear, love them.

These are cordovan, they definitely not color 8. They look very very close to the brown that the strands come in currently. I called a few stores but no definitive answer yet.

I can't really take credit - that's just how my dad taught me to tie a tie - but thanks.

If they are reddish cordovan from AE, they are simply called burgundy. Yours looks a bit faded (burgundy and color 8 cordovan fade to brown) but definitely burgundy.

really bad pic, i'll look for another but you can see it's a really deep almost blood red. these are wingtips but apparently they make the captoe (similar to a strand but slimmer more modern looking) solely for saks fifth. But they are like $800 so i'm looking for other shoes with a similar color

I have some Delrays in chili. I like them, but they are definitely a little more elongated last than I'm used to. I'm going to put a double sole on them to chunk them up a bit. I saw some similar shoes with a double sole on a blog somewhere and I thought they really improved the shoe.

Plus I just love double soles.
