Not worth it. The entirety of the proportions are different. You can't just cut a couple inches off the bottom and have a 40R.

How much do you guys find your size vaies from maker to maker?
I'm a 40R in BB, but my Armani is a 38 and fits as well as the BB one I tried on today.

Reason I ask is there is a killer 40R Nordstroms suit on sale online, just not sure how it will fit. I'll swing by after work tomorrow i guess.

You can easily vary a size from brand to brand, or even model within brand.

i disagree... most jackets can remain proportionally correct up to 1.5 inches shorter. maximum. you SHOULDN'T do more than 1 inch... and with most brands, the difference between an S-R-L is approx. 1 inch each.

Do they not change lapels on S/L jackets? I would think the lapels would be proportionally longer, rather than just a regular R jacket with +/- 1".

certainly they do, but certainly not equal to the difference in jacket length, and not enough for it to make a difference in the eyes of anyone that isn't a tailor. if you're a REAL regular, as in the jacket length and sleeve length require no alternations at all, you can tailor a long to fit you in most cases, i'd say. if you need so much as .5" in the sleeve taken up in a regular... don't mess with a long. i'm a short... i've once had a regular tailored to fit me and it was just fine. it's certainly not preferential and obviously the best option is to simply purchase your proper length, but in the case of a super smokin' deal. it's not so bad. that being said, Mike Larry, you're probably going to pay $120 in tailoring to make that happen. so at that point, is the deal really such a good deal still?

So nice. And I got them both at about 50% off.

I'm not sure if I want to go with cuffs or not on the herringbone trousers. Thoughts? Given the print, I was thinking of a slightly aggressive cuff (like 2").

i plan to do 2" on my epaulet trousers. which is definitely aggressive for me because i am pretty short... 5'8".

Oh boy...
Do you have really long legs compared to your torso?
I have 1 3/4" cuffs on some of my pants and don't think I will go any higher than that

i actually have a really long torso. short legs and short arms. i'm 5'8"... my girlfriend is 5'5" and we have the same inseam, for reference. i have 1.5" cuffs on a pair of Thom Browne trousers that look too short and 2.0" on another pair of Thom Browne trousers and those look a little too tall, but not bad. we'll see. if they look too aggressive i'll have them redone. i figure it's better to go higher first so that the tailor doesn't cut too much off and then i'm stuck with cuffs that are too shallow.

I love em. I picked up the only 40R they had on the website it seems. This is the one I wanted but they didn't have it in my size..I was @ Nordstroms tonight checking a few suits out and this popped up on the BB website.

Some good deals on there
