I assume you're referring to the other Dave in this thread. I am waifish and elfin, so my opinion doesn't matter on that subject.

TM Lewin is also in that range, gotta buy at least $200 worth, but get the brand that fits you better.

Dave, you'll appreciate this given the line of work you (we) are in. Part of my duties are doing gross estate projections for XXX date down the road using Monte Carlo analysis, among a variety of other factors. The typical request is for 2-4 different scenarios to be run.

I have a particularly needy client that is worth a nice chunk of money. The wife emailed me asking for 36 different scenarios to be run.....oh, and she needs them by tomorrow

PS....love the texture combination with the tweed, v neck and shirt

Bahahahah! I hate when clients do that.

Are you seeing a lot of people doing last-minute gifts this year to take advantage of the $5.125 million gift exemption?

Thanks! I also have my blue knit pocket square--I'm texturin' like a mofo today.

So I've decided that I'm gonna make an earnest effort to stop buying young people clothes. Bought 4 fitted hats in a lapse of immaturity last week and I don't even know when I'll wear them. Was able to stop myself from buying a new pair of timbs last night though.

I called her back and said I can maybe get 6 of the 36 completed and she, to my surprise, understood and was very gracious about the whole thing.

I'm seeing quite a bit of last minute gifts this year. People trying to utilize that spread between $5.12mm and $3.5mm so as to not waste it. If the exemption does go back to $3.5mm, hopefully there are no claw-back provisions that would void their/our efforts.

Do you think that $3.5M is going to be the final number? I've heard all kinds of ridiculous things. I'm also hoping for no clawback.

Personally, I think $3.5mm is reasonable. Reasonable as in it doesn't ensnare those individuals who are "house rich", meaning they have a $1mm house in an expensive part of the country but few other assets.

I also hope they maintain the portability of it.

At the end of the day I tell all of my clients the following:

1. The final decision probably won't come until a few minutes before midnight on December 31st in light of how functional (tic) our lawmakers are.

2. Any speculation as to what the limit could be is just that, speculation. Their results may differ.

I'm doing the same, except I don't have much faith that they'll get anything done by the end of the year except granting themselves another lame extension.

What you spend should reflect what you wear the most.

You'll eventually decide that 4 hats is plenty for the 2 times a month you wear fitted hats.

Wearing the same suit everyday might prompt you into buying another.

It is not. She just recently got promoted and has been stressed out, working long hours, etc. I'm leaving town tomorrow for NJ to see some family so as a consolation prize of not having me around I had some flowers delivered to her with this as the card to cheer her up:
