i had a lot of time to kill while just hanging out at the beach and pier today in between meals
(ate so muchhhhhhhh )
so i bothered to respond to that iceman kid over and over

but yes
today's outfit was a very thrifty one
LEC shirt was about $16
BR sweater $40ish 2 years ago
down jacket - i haggled and got it for about $55-60ish 3 years ago
Levi's 514 pants - bought these just a week ago when there was the 40% sale + free shipping = $26
LEC shoes = $15ish

i plan on going to korea in about a month .. maybe in two months
will probably get another suit made - probably a solid medium gray
but maybe use a fabric with a little more interesting hand than just plain super 120 wool
and i'll see if i can get a vest made to match my BB milano navy pinstripe suit
the suit fits well but the high button stance does not make it look as good when buttoned ... but it looks fine with the button undone
so i'm thinking that wearing it as a 3-piece will be better

Anyway: all of my gluttony over the past couple of weeks is catching up to me. I was totally sick to my stomach this afternoon after eating like a pig all day. Bleah. Time to get back to eating healthily and exercising a bit.

Anyone know of some good deals on hermes ties? I love the designs but I can't talk myself into spending $200+ on a neck tie.

EDIT: Yeah, what Ed said. Have you checked Ebay or StyleForum's buy/sell forums?

I checked ebay and the one I wanted their is used for ~$160 +shipping from the UK. I can't justify that. Oh well, guess I keep waiting.

Ouch. That doesn't sound like much of a savings. You might as well buy new at those prices.

Yea, you can buy the uglier designs for really cheap on eBay but the timeless classic ones all go for $150+ in good condition. Such a rip off but the designs are great, definitely my favorite brand for ties, followed by Ferragamo which is much more reasonable.

the problem with Hermes ties is that that designs have become so recognizable that everyone knows you'll have spent $200 on a tie.

In some circles, yes. In my world, I could wear nothing but Hermes ties and perhaps two people would notice.
