Yea, too bad. I should have tried on the E despite what the manager said. I'm not too close to an AE store so it's not practical for me to go and most department stores only carry D width.

But even then, if you get the E width chances are that the shoe will slip at the heel, which also sucks.

I have narrow feet (B width) so I almost always try dress shoes on before I buy them. I'm also a fan of instant gratification so I prefer to go get things in person when I can. For me this means I have to travel to San Francisco to get AEs.

I also got my Neumoks today. I didn't notice the box outside when I picked up the McTavish box.

My first impression is wow. The olive is beautiful in person. The shoes fit much better than the McTavishs They leather is softer and without the lining, there is a little bit more room.

I may just return the McTavishs and buy the Neumoks in brown again. These shoes are keepers!

To add to this, the reality is that all lasts do not work for all feet. There are some shoes I like that I simply cannot wear because the last shape does not work for my foot.

what last is the Neumok on?

I would try out a 9.5E in the McTavish first, see if that works for you. Not sure where the shoe is creasing on the 10D, but the 9.5E is worth the shot.

5 last but it is unlined so it does fit a little different than your strand, 5th, park, etc...

fits me perfect in the same size as my cordovan strands, however i know dwass had some issues with the fit compared to his (strands?)

That could work. I tried on the Neumoks in 11.5 at Nordstrom and length wise, they were fine, but just marginally tighter than the 12 (to be expected). 11.5E in the McTavish could possibly work.

I found the fit to be nothing like the 5-last (I have both the Park Ave and the Strand).

I tried both a 10.5 and an 11 in multiple widths, and nothing worked. I needed some combination that they don't make...like a 10.5EE or something.

I happened to notice that the new Billy Reid suit features at least one suit with flapped patch pockets. I had never really thought about it before until imola brought it up, but now I notice them.

it costs a lot more to dress myself properly now
but i am still thankful for the sartorial knowledge gained in the past two years
