knowing me, i'll probably get the neumoks and something else... realistically speaking, i shouldn't be in any position to spend that much money on just one pair of shoes. i'm sure they will be around come christmas time, so a few gift certs here and there will help knock off a couple hundred bucks, then spending $300 or so out of pocket won't be so bad

I have a couple of sort of important meetings today (potential new clients) so I decided to suit up.

Navy Fitzgerald suit
White shirt
Navy/blue repp tie
MacNeils
White linen pocket square

It's supposed to hit close to 100 today so I will definitely be seeking out the AC.

We took my wife's Tahoe into the shop yesterday to get a new catalytic converter installed. The whole time I was thinking to myself how many suits/shoes I could have bought with those same dollars.

Oh well--we can't get the car registered until the work's done (won't pass smog) so I guess we'll just suck it up.

During the summer our monthly water bill is equivalent to a new pair of AEs and maybe a tie or two.

Wedding this weekend. portion of it outdoors, supposed to be hot and humid...

Feel like i'm going to be seing a lot of guys sweating through their wool suits. what would you guys wear to a summer wedding?

i'm planning on wearing a navy cotton suit i just got - BR had 30% off sale the other day, got the whole suit for $230. Jacket fit perfect off the rack.

That sounds like the way to go. I would go with a white shirt so if you do sweat you won't have a discolored ring around the top of your collar (hopefully). I have a cotton poplin khaki suit that I love for hot summer events.

If it's outdoors I'm guessing it's a more laid back wedding.....if you're not in the wedding party you could probably get away with a suit, white button down and no tie.

so the wedding is indoors, dinner is indoors, but part of the reception is outdoors. so im uncertain on the level of formality, ya know?

thinking suit w/ tie and then i'll just remove jacket for outdoor portion.

I would remove the tie before I remove the jacket, personally. Shirt and tie alone would make you look like part of the waitstaff at the reception, I'd think.

yes this was my concern too. although if I pick up a few tips, it could be worth it.

no tie it is. of course it's a given that my old man shoes will be worn.

Bingo.

I would wear it to the ceremony, and if you notice that it's a less formal (but still suit level) reception you can always remove the tie and slip it into your jacket pocket.

And maybe you could get champagne by the tray instead of the glass.

Of course. Old man shoes are practically a requirement.

Eh, it's mostly watering the lawn and landscaping. That stuff adds up.

At least we don't have a pool!

Got my first pair of suede shoes. They were on sale and I bought a J&B gift card from RenJ at a discount.

Super comfortable and they are a color I didn't have previously.
