![]() Either way: the point of this thread isn't to tear people down. Everyone likes different things. There's no value in having anyone come in and try to crap on someone else's personal style opinion or choices. I try not to do that, and I hope that that would be the general attitude in here. |

I don't mind the boots, although I doubt I could pull them off.
The cuffs on the jeans I'm not a fan of, but it works with that look, I guess.

how is the rise on the epaulet slim walt wool pants? 12.5" in the 33 or 34 waist ... i wish it was 11.5" instead and room in the ass? i usually have to size up then get the waist taken in to fit my butt

I got a pretty huge ass and id say they're snug. But there's room to take out the seat. I like the rise, somewhere between modern and thom browne/bb bf. i wear a size 32.

i went to Leather Soul in Beverly Hills today... i've ordered like 3 pairs of shoes there, but never been to the store. the manager, Bryan, has always been a dream to work with via e-mail. i picked up some Alden Leather Defender and an Alden Color 8 credit card case/wallet. Bryan gave me a free leather shoehorn... super nice. really a first class operation.

I kind of agree. I emailed back and forth a few times asking about narrow sizes, and advice on sizing and I got a few short sentences back basically telling me I was shite out of luck. It took him about 5 or 6 days to get back to me each time, too.

If you wear a 9D and want whatever they just posted on their site, places like LS and Leffot are a dream.
Anything else, forget it. After corresponding with both shops, I wouldn't buy from either of them even if they did stock my size.

So, I sent my walnut Strands out to be recrafted on Dec 29th, just got them back today... so less than 3 weeks door to door. I dropped them off at the Newbury St. store in Boston the Sunday before NYE. I was told 4-6 weeks after Christmas since a lot of people I guess do them after the holiday with gift cards, etc.. idk... but to my convenience, it took half the time. Also, I checked last week, surprisingly they don't spend a lot of time in the shop. I think I called on Friday the 4th, just to see if they received them yet... nothing. I called on Thursday the 10th, and they were already shipped out to me. So between Monday and Thursday, they received them, checked them, recrafted them, and mailed them. Not bad in 3-4 business days.
So the shoes. Few things I noticed. Maybe its me, but the soles the soles don't seem to be the same. I compared them to a brand new pair of bourbon strands i just got on Monday, used once. Idk, they sole just feels harder than the leather they usually use. Also, all new AE's have the notched out part where the stitching is, and then more towards the center of the shoe, there is another little notch/design that is in the leather. See below ![]() Mine below... whatever, not a big deal, just an observation. I just hope the leather used is of the same quality. ![]() So, moving along now.... The remainder of the inspection passed all expectations. The leather was reconditioned very well. There were some scratches and blemishes on the toe box that can barely be seen now, naked to the eye unless you knew what was previously there. The knot stitching at the bottom of the eyelets were definitely done over again, which is a nice touch. There is no way they were in the condition they are now after a year of heavy use, I am almost certainly positive that the stitching was pulled and separated. See the little stitch right above the first eyelits. ![]() The shoes look great. I am surprised that the creasing was reduced dramatically on the vamps. Literally, besides the insole, these shoes look like they were worn a handful of times if you are judging just by the upper. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The only thing that raised an eyebrow was the inside of the heal. There is a gap between the insole and the lining. I don't remember if it was like that before, but there seems to be a lot of dust/lint in there LOL. I need to take a look at a few other pairs of shoes and see if thats the way it looks. ![]() ![]() All in all, considering the shoe itself, the fact that I burned through my left sole (clutch use possibly?) and that I wore the hell out of these since the beginning of last year, I am extremely satisfied with the recrafting service. I wasn't expecting the upper to come out THAT good and new looking. Its tough to dish out $125 for a used pair of shoes, but after seeing the end result, this now is incentive to recraft my shoes as preventative maintenance rather than waiting until the soles have holes in them. Very happy and thoroughly impressed. J |
