if im going to a bar or a relatively non-fancy dinner, i'll do chucks or purcells with my jeans. if it's a club, i'll do fairly typical dress shoes. basically, it's sneakers if i'm wearing a t-shirt/v-neck and dress shoes if i'm wearing a collared shirt with the jeans

I believe that was a joke. You can wear a variety of things depending if you want to dress it up or down. From most casual to more dressy, here are my picks:

Clean/simple sneakers:
Jack Purcell's, Chuck Taylors, Stan Smiths...
I actually prefer Puma G. Vilas II to any of those, but the others are pretty common.

A tad more dressy:
Sperry topsiders, Clark desert boots, chukka boots, etc. There are a lot of options in this category.

Most dressy for this use:
Some sort of loafer, somewhat on the casual side of the spectrum - others here will chime in with specifics. Maybe a driving moc style.

I would wear some espadrilles with a pair of baggy khaki shorts and a tee shirt. I've never actually owned a pair, though.

so we had this account that wasn't paying their fee they owed us at work. i have a really good relationship with the CEO, but the CEO hates my boss so my boss said if i got said company to pay he'd give me 10% of the vig for collecting. so the check came in this afternoon so i got a free $1,000 for basically just sending an e-mail. went ahead and bought those cigar LHS.

Solly, given your style, and assuming you're not talking about "dressing up" I think Jack Purcels or Desert Boots are the best bet.

robbing with a sword is a good thing

I hear that the import fees on those things are astronomical.

The survival rate is only about 30 percent, but even at that attrition rate you still make a decent profit. I see no downside here for Ed.
