I'm glad to hear it. Shoot me an e-mail or give me a call if I can provide any useful input.

That's good to hear, just like with group buys once money needs to be laid out on the table things and interest change very quickly.

I need to buy a charcoal or dark gray suit for an upcoming wedding in Chicago that I'm in (best man). I have a charcoal suit but it's a herringbone fabric and I need just plain fabric.

Is this suit (Boss Black) worth the price at $350 before alterations? I'm assuming it's a fused suit.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/boss-bla...sults-_-1_10_D

Also, would black wingtips (such as the AE McCallister) be inappropriate for wedding shoes? It's not formal so I don't need to bust out my patent leather shoes.

Edit: Any input on Hickey Freeman suits? Worth it at ~$600.

HF has so many diff levels
I bought and returned one from last call or saks fifth or one of those for $350-400
It was alright
Pretty much same thing as HBoss

If it fits you well, then not a terrible buy
But now I just save for the half canvassed BB or MTM instead of buying HB or HF for less money

And I think you will be fine with black mcallister
If it were a brown or something, then it might stand out too much
No one will notice anyway

It's a sad day in the Vader household. In a few minutes I'll be taking our beagle, Jack, to be euthanized. His cancer has spread throughout his body and he has now reached the point where he's unable to do much of anything.

Thanks, guys. It was actually sort of a cathartic experience to be there as he slipped away. It was very peaceful and I'm glad that my final memories with him could be so positive.

As it turns out the black McAllisters and the black Park Ave's are eligible for Nordstroms Anniversary sale + my wifes 33%, so $150 new pair of AE's here I come!

I'm still a bit undecided between the two......I think I'm leaning towards the McAllisters since I have a pair of JM cap toe's in black......and I'm not a giant fan of the stubby cap toe on the PA's.

Hi Guys,

I havent posted in a while but had a question and figured you would give me good advice. I just picked up a couple pairs of shoes at the Nordstrom sale. I total splurged and bought a pair of Strands and also bought a pair of AE Neumoks. -There was something about that distressed leather on those that I really dug. Anyways, should I put Leather Protector on either of these before I wear them? I've got Obenaufs that I use on my Red Wings and I don't know what I should be doing with these shoes I just bought. They are my 2nd and third pair of expensive shoes (RW were the first) so Im still new to this game. Any tips? Thanks!

Also,
Dave very sorry about your Dog. My condolences.

Don't put Obenaufs on the Strands for sure. You'll have to seek input from others on the Neumoks, but I would imagine no on those, as well. Nice pick ups!

Great, thanks for the reply! So should I just polish them every once in a while and otherwise just use shoe trees when I'm not wearing them?

I would, at the very least, get some AE leather conditioner and paste or wax polish for the Strands. Whenever I get a new dress shoe/boot I treat them with conditioner, and then put on a few layers of wax or paste (or both).

No Obenaufs on dress shoes. Period.

Just condition/polish them. If they're going to see heavy rain, get shoe covers. Mine are Tingley and I'm pleased with them. Swims are overpriced.

Sorry you had to go through that. My ex brought her shepherd mix when she moved in with me, and I didn't know how much it would affect me when we had to put her down. It was a rough deal for both of us.
