Pratt and Victorians are awesome knots that I feel are under used. Ed does the Victorian, its the fancy name for a "double" 4 in hand. Love it...

I still stick to my half windsor most of the times.

I work for a syndicate of Lloyd's of London, specifically in technology insurance.

Great choice on the boots. One thing I'd note - be sure that's what you want to spend your money on. I love the ravello WT boot, but if I could only have one, I'd probably go for a #8 captoe for versatility.

Perhaps we should get subscriptions to Esquire so we can pretend.

At some point down the line, I will get a #8 captoe balmoral boot, but realistically, a boot for me is going to get more use in a casual setting. With that being said, the ravello WT is something I can wear if need be for business casual, but will get most of its use with jeans. The pic that sam put up a few pages back of whats his name is the primary purpose of what I want... a really good casual look.

If it fits your needs, then go for it

Where are you looking at getting it?

Okay. So I drove up to the ranger station in Pollock Pines and was second in line for backpacking permits. I was able to get permits for our preferred route and destination. We've finished packing and now we're just waiting for our friends to come pick us up so we can head out.

See you all tomorrow or the next day.

Shitty pic, but I grabbed this new outfit for MC'ing a friend's wedding reception. Cost a pretty penny but oh so worth it. Nothing fits like a proper fitted Italian suit!

Enjoy!

I'm in the suburbs this weekend. It's a bit like camping for me.

Can't tell a lot by the picture, but nice color combinations. Looks like you could maybe afford to take a link out of the watch.

Also...a LOT better than the last suit I had to buy for a wedding :/

that actually brings up question number 2... where the hell can i try these on?? i checked the website and there are a few places in the boston area that carry them, but of the websites that were up, they only had dress oxfords...

i am less than an hour away from their headquarters, i'll give them a call and see what they suggest. idk if i can go there to get them... would sound silly if i couldn't

Ah, welcome to the world of Alden. You will take what they give you. You will not question the system. And you will like it.

There are some retail stores where you can possibly try them on. JCrew in NYC, Epaulet NYC, Alden NYC are your best bets.

I don't believe you can do anything at the factory. They don't sell direct.

What last is the shoe you're looking at? Barrie? If so, the Barrie runs .5 large and I'd say .25 wide. I'm an 11E on the Allen Edmonds 5-last, and a 10.5D on the Barrie.

Their wingtip bluchers are on the Barrie last I believe. I found a place up in boston that has the Indy, which if i'm not mistaken is on the same last, so that will give me a good idea of sizing. 9.5D on the 5 last, so maybe a 9D to start off with. We'll see... Not sure when I'll be able to make it up that way.

Spent the weekend+ down in Table Rock Lake again this weekend.....sun burnt and tired but it was a great time, as always. Got some water skiing and wake surfing in, which is always a plus.

The wife and I were expecting a few packages to be delivered on Friday while we were out of town.....two dresses in one box and a new pair of Sperry's in the other box. We asked the neighbor if she could keep an eye out and grab them for us while we were away. We come home on Sunday afternoon with the boxes sitting out on our front porch....soaked through from a rain storm we had on Saturday night

No damage to anything, surprisingly, but no bueno, none the less.

On a separate note, the smaller sized Fjallraven jacket came in and it fits mucchhhh better.

I googled firms and read their practice areas before firing off a cover letter too.

Long wing blucher is Barrie. Indy is Trubalance.

Barrie runs about half a width wide. Trubalance is a full width wide.

You'll probably be a 9D Barrie.

i was browsing abovethelaw listings last week... almost every listing asks for several years of experience
but i will keep looking

just found an interesting ad on craigslist of all places
90% of CL listings are crap but there are a few gems that show up from time to time
i will be sending a cover letter and resume for that one
