I'm typically not a real kvetch about my clients, and by most measures this family qualifies as a "good" client, it was just yesterdays meeting. We recently had a client where we had to resign duty....or basically fire the client because the fee they were paying didn't come close to covering the expense that we incurred for dealing with them.

We have this - it's called "culling" a broker for us.

"Well, Frank, the reason we're cutting you off for this line is because you sent in 239 submissions over the last twelve months and bound zero of them. In case the math isn't obvious, that's a hit ratio of zero percent."

Then they look at you like you're the a-hole for not wanting them to spin your wheels.

I thought most of your clients have already kicked the bucket...

How is a dead person supposed to do estate planning?

Don't forget: I also have a business transactional practice. Those people are still very much alive.

Wearing my Bayfields today......weather has finally started to cool down from the 110 degree days. It was 58 this morning when I woke up and it's not supposed to break 80

We had a presentation on Wednesday from some local attorneys and their presentation was titled "Estate Planning for Interesting Times". They gave us a 7 or 8 page summary that I found pretty useful....I'm sure you've got most of your bases covered but if you're interested I'd be happy to send it your way.

I'd love to see it. Send it on over! Thanks!

I'm headed to a relatively routine court hearing this morning on a conservatorship I'm wrapping up. So I'll be wearing the full regalia today.

No problem! I tried to PM it, but I don't think we're able to attach files. I browsed your law group website before so I'm assuming that email is fine?

I strongly approve of this pant/boot combo

Great look, although I think a little strong for a pre-Labor Day combo.

Thats my go-to fall/winter look.

I'm starting to be really ready for fall to be here. I'd be all over wearing my fall clothes, but it's 100 degrees here (after a week of 108s). So I still have a ways to go before it's tweed and sweater time.

I'm looking at sweaters, coats, and scarves...just waiting to wear them.

I like winter for one reason only: I have a place to put my stuff without having it bulge out of my pockets. Carrying two phones sucks.

Also, my color 8 boots will be getting more wear in the fall.

I love winter clothes, but I have to recognize that El Dorado Hills winters and Chicago winters are two totally different animals.

I edited a "finance for lawyers" textbook my first summer of law school. I clerked for a professor and that was my job--editing his textbook. It was interesting.

So I've been thinking a pair of Chelsea boots would be a perfect travel dress shoe for me - boot, slip on, yet not a loafer (don't usually like loafers with suits). I was going to go for this beautiful Carmina in burgundy calfskin:

But maybe I'll go for this Allen Edmonds Ostrich-leather abomination:

They are the same price. Allen Edmonds

Indeed. Here is a picture of my commute to work.

I think it is personal finance

I've never liked ostrich leather, but those are a particularly ugly example.
