I have not researched the availability of that particular product.

Are you giving old jackets a refresh with the buttons?

Yeah, my blue blazer and my tweed sportcoat. The blazer has blue buttons, which I think makes it look like an orphaned suit coat. The tweed jacket has black leather buttons, which bugs me.

A couple of things:

1. Jelly of mini YMWDLOM meet up in Chicago.

2. I laughed out loud at the thought of a bunch of SF'ers meeting up and walking around like a bunch of peacocks. I bet it's a hilarious/ridiculous spectacle.

3. VD, don't feel bad about spending $50 on buttons for a few jackets. I spent around $20-25 for new buttons for that herringbone jacket that had the leather wrapped buttons.

1) Me too!
2) I sort of want to go to one but I think I'd find them mostly insufferable in real life.
3) We have the same jacket! What did you decide to put on yours?

I don't have the jacket back yet.....I ran into a friend of mine from highschool who works at the local Brooks Brothers and offered me a good deal on turning the sleeves into functional button holes, so I took him up on it and the buttons I believe they are corozzo buttons, dark grey, or some such.

I actually went with a medium brown (natural horn) after seeing similar buttons on herringbone jackets online. I almost never wear black shoes so I wanted something that would coordinate better with my brown shoes.

I'm hoping these aren't close to black, I told him what I was looking for and he nodded and told me dark gray would work because they are lighter than they sound. We'll see.

What sort of deal did you get?
Because doing functional sleeves is purely tailor's labor
But i am thinking a tailor for a major store like bb gets paid a salary so there is possibility of getting a discount

It isn't everyday there's a YMWDLOM meet up on Michigan Avenue. Polo, AE, and Alden were strongly represented.

Got my Alden for BB unlined loafers today and...

He charged me a total of $60 for the buttons + alterations, I think the normal price was around $95.

Here they are. As I mentioned, they were a display model that got a lot of sun, so the color 8 has faded to a warm brown (which I think is great). They fit like a glove in a D-width since they are unlined.

And, as a bonus, they have a very well placed Horween stamp.

^ Diggin' the shoes

I'm in need of some dry cleaning advice.....I had a mishap and got a tiny oil spot on a pair of my suit pants from salad dressing, or some such. Should I pre-treat it with something prior to bringing it to the dry cleaner?

I wouldn't think so. You'd hate to set the stain. You might call the dry cleaner and ask what they suggest.
