Maybe they took their jackets off and hung them on the back of their chairs because your "look" is basically what you described as inferior + a sport coat.

Look through this thread, most of us wear suits to work, and there are plenty of pictures/descriptions of sport coats, OCBD's, dark jeans and nice shoes/boots. Again, this look is a standard (albeit good) look.

Shirt, tucked into jeans, with a belt and leather shoes/boots.

If you put a SC onto that, you have the picture you posted.

No slicked over hair

yousharenow - you've never posted anything other than some horrible picture from a Macy's ad. Put your money where your mouth is.

Btw the only well dressed men in ATL dress like they live in a different century and take pride in their dandiness. So that's working against you.

If dressing like a generic southern dork makes you happy, that's great. But why do you feel the need to come in and be your normal unpleasant self every so often?

robbing with a sword is a good thing

That's the problem, you guys define old dress as "good". The shoes in threads like this are a prime example (hence the "grandpa shoes" comments). I find that its especially prominent in the NE, while me, personally, prefer a more modern style.

Bowties and searsuckers aren't my style. I've provided countless ensembles that I modeled my wardrobe after.

I've posted time and again images of how I dress, why in this thread especially, does everyone get so queeny?

I come in here to watch you guys piss all over eachothers (as is the general nature of this forum anytime a car/clothes thread comes up) and because if you weed through most the crap, there are some gems hidden here and there.

This sums up the general attitude I get from this thread.

This is the general vibe I get from you:

What is your definition of a "modern" shoe? Square toe? Metallic?

Moon boots.

Or rather anything that doesn't have swirly designs all over it, isn't a broad square toe.

Something like this where it tapers in and up;

Ok, enough bickering like women.

I'm looking for a shoe that is versatile enough to wear with shorts/polo, jeans/polo, and maybe even a casual office day (khakis & either OCBD/polo). My first thought is a penny loafer of some sort, but I've never purchased a pair. Any pointers or suggestions? Obviously I'm looking for something more on the casual side than a burgundy cordovan shell number.

Have you looked at deck shoes like Sperry's? Seems to be pretty utilitarian to what your wanting, unless you want something more cloth based.

Something like Sperry's Topsider or a bit more dressed up?

.Or something like this might be a bit dressier:

I'm not sold on the idea of a "boat shoe" which is what I think of when Sperry is mentioned. Browsing their site, something more like this is what I have in mind, provided I don't look goofy wearing them with shorts. Like I said, if I can get something which can be used with shorts as well as casual office wear, that would be ideal.

I need to dial it in a little better though, this is just the rough idea.

+1

also those shoes you posted would go quite well with affliction tshirts and bedazzled jeans and blazers.

That looks like a leather sole which is not common for shorts.

Do you want leather sole (formal) or shorts?
