Been running the shark for 110k miles. Engine isn't failing.

But you agree that a real dyno tune would be more beneficial for our motors than a can tune could be

Shark doesn't take the engine light for running catless headers tho.

look, there's nothing wrong with the shark tune. it's proven to make gains, it's reliable, it's easy to flash at home.

until they release the shark edit, where you can adjust the tune settings yourself or on a dyno at a tuning facility, it's basically a stage I tune that's optimized for an intake and exhaust.

i spent significant time researching what tuning company to use for my e46. shark is good, AA is not that great, and other flashes (like what mango runs, forget the company) are decent. i went with eurocharged mainly because of their ZHP development. seth works in chicago, he has a zhp, and he's pushing the development of the e46.

on the eurocharged tune, there's options to re-tuning for free, and they have a dyno facility that's close by where i live. in the end, it was the best option for me.

other's might brag about their shark or AA tunes, but it's all relative. i've had 4 different tunes on my various n54-powered cars; there's always room for improvement and trying out different tunes is good to compare against.

it's not as easy to try different tunes for the e46, because you can't resell the shark, eurocharged, or any other tune really.

having said that, i hope to document my eurocharged tuning progress. jerry has agreed to flash me back to stock, dyno test the power levels, flash me to stage I, dyno tune the gains, flash me to the header tune (canned, or stage II if you will), re-dyno tune, and then custom dyno-tune my car, and compare the results of all the above.

i'll make a thread once this happens; it will be a while though because i've been travelling for work extensively and eurocharged is closed sat/sun.

overall, i'm satisified with the noticeable gains on a stock car, then on my car with technik headers. if you feel like shark is better, that's great. i'll never get a shark until they release the USB support to custom flash your car.

cheers.

Don't you need to let the car settle out for a couple hundred miles before re-dynoing it after the flashes?

You're talking about setting adaptatons. Its not that necessary, if you're just getting baseline dyno numbers.

On my e90 and e82, the tunes allow you to switch the maps on the fly. No big deal really. Jerry said it would adapt just fine with a few WOT dyno pulls on each map

I am not sure as I let EuroCharged do all the planning on that part (as they are doing the Tune and etc). We are just supplying the product to them. I will be installing another set beginning of the year before the official release of the item.

Holy God I didn't know I was so damn popular on this site.

Going in tomorrow - everyone keep their panties on. FYI the install is NOT at iND however iND and I work closely together and they helped me allocate some parts to get this done.

On behalf of Anthony and Eurocharged I will apologize for all of the build up and long time waiting for this to happen since we first partnered up with BB.

I recently finished my bachelors degree last month so when I received these headers from Anthony, I was not able to just run out and get them done the next day. We also had some miscommunications with the shop we are using and the days we tried to schedule the shop were given away to other customers accidentally and also had large gaps in time of them being out of town for long weekend races - not to mention trying to coordinate a time for the tuning to be done with home base in Houston. Because I am in Chicago with one of the EC owners and not at the home base in Houston, things work a little differently up here.

Regardless of any of this, all is lined up and confirmed for tomorrow. I will be taking some photo/video of the dynoing, install and tuning. We will be dynoing the car pre and post header install as well as with and without our tuning to show all of the gains and variables.

Anthony has been great and very patient with me getting this taken care of and I sincerely thank him for that. We hope to make him proud tomorrow and I will be sending him the results ASAP for him to share with you all.

Thanks.
