The ETA on the SS Rep is a year or less? Or are you speaking of the Gen 3? I just am looking for any style header for the 323/328 .

Have them coated. Way better than flimsy little heat shields.

I'll tell you this. First time we installed them with the heat shields, it took me about 7 hours. When I did it without, it took me about 3. And that was by myself. Granted, I had more experience. That's start to finish.

I think that's mostly due to experience.

The downside to coating is the headers will fail much faster since it traps all of the heat.

But if the quality is good, than what's to worry about cracking? The high heat trapping keeps the velocity higher allowing the exhaust to scavenge more air.

They will all eventually crack. Good quality headers will just last longer.

I went back to the OEM gaskets with the heatshields.

They'll wear our eventually. Ceramic coating just makes it faster. I don't think street driving will cause any short term issues. For me, if its a trade off of the extra PIA of installing the heat shields vs ceramic coating...I'll take the extra PIA of installing the heat shields. I paid someone so it wasn't my PIA. If I was DIYing? Yeah, after creating a couple of new curse words...ceramic coating would sound awesome.

I need to also take into account the beating my car takes once a month at the track. Most will not.

Without.

The point is that your headers will eventually fail...just like your exhaust. Ceramic coating will make it fail faster because the heat is being trapped in side. So the metal gets even hotter.

I think its better and cheaper to use the OEM gasket with the shields if you are concerned with heat in the engine bay.
